Assassin’s Creed® is a game that redefined the action-adventure genre. With photo-realistic graphics, an advanced physics model, and a nearly fanatical attention to detail, this title was able to begin a new chapter in gaming history. However, the excellent technical aspects are only half of the reason why it became so popular; the other half is the story.
While you technically play the game as Desmond Miles, the main focus of the game takes place elsewhere. The year is 1191: Jerusalem, the middle of the Third Crusade. You are a member of a mysterious order of assassins where you have trained your whole life to do one thing and one thing only – to kill. The recently growing influence of the Order of the Knights Templar disturbs the delicate balance of power in the region and therefore directly threatens The Brotherhood. The clash of the two most powerful organizations in Jerusalem at the time has the most unexpected consequences and triggers devastating events that threaten the world itself, and you – Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad – are in the middle of all this.
Well-constructed story that will pleasantly surprise you many times along the way.
Impressive level of interaction with the environment – crowds react to what you do and act accordingly.
Open world gameplay lets you to decide how and when to achieve objectives, where to go, and gives you nearly complete freedom to get there.

Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
To me, this game is neither good nor old. Also being on GoG , its like throwing a head of lettuce into a tank of piranhas. Open world?, flexible combat?, well delivered story?. There is an onyx amongst the rubble, yet it fails to satisfy and/or impress.
Maybe Ubisoft is not as bad as they say and it once had a Golden Age like so many other companies before it,that had now fallen of 'consumers' grace into a void of madness and greed...Maybe if i try the begining it proves me wrong and it's my mistake and not the company...Maybe i've been to harsh with it.
What a joke, this game is not any different from any of the other AC,if anything i'll dare say it's even way worse, kill a civilian...you are out,try to have fun,you are out, desynchronized, mission failed...and so on.
And the controls?a nightmare, cluncky, awfull to say the least, story i didn't bother,it wasn't worth it,the game is not worth it,a total waste of money, honestly if you skip this one you miss nothing,it's more i'll say you can get a better deal buying other games.
Somethng that is truly worth your hard worked money,limited time and life unless you truly like it(wich i have nothing against),but nonehteless let me put you into my perspective so you guys can understand what i was thinking i was going to get;
You know how every once in a while a company is shorta...of gone per say,but they leave a legacy behind, something you can remember them by,something you once enjoyed in your childhood, teenage years or even adulthood and elderhood.
Something that marked you like a burning iron and makes you think that if their legacy was good, what they once were, then maybe they aren't so bad after all as they have left some good behind them and can redeem themselves by return to it.
Hell,a company dosn't even need to be 'dead',maybe creatively bankrupted or ruled by greedy corpos is enough like; EA(Studio Killer),Bethesda,Activision Blizzard,CDPR...But at least they left something behind, titles like;Doom,Elder Scrolls,Web of Shadows ,Witcher ,Warcraft, Prototype, BG,Dblo or even the old Star Wars games
Some of wich marked alongside Doom the shooter generations, like others did to so many other genres...i thought i was buying a diamond but i got a turd instead.DON'T BUY
I hate this series.
You think a huge corporation, like Ubisoft, will make sure there is a good port from console? Wrong. For example, I had to hex edit in a mouse sensitivity that was more acceptable than the menu allowed. Repetitive, and awkward fight and game mechanics. Shitty AI decisions...there's a ladder 1 pixel away, but you'll bumblingly jump up a wall with no ledge, whilst your enemies batter you. You think an assassin is skilled and dexterous? Wrong. You slightly graze somebody as you run by, and, like LeBron James, you're stumbling around as though you were shot.
Articles state this is the worst of the series, so I felt compelled to give the series a second shot with AC2 - supposedly one of the best. Wrong. If you didn't like the first game, the second game is only a marginal improvement. Boring and repetitive, with rigid fight mechanics, should be the AC slogan. Want to play capture the flag? What self-respecting assassin doesn't - am I right?
A buddy told me that he moved onto this series, as his second favorite after the Baldur's Gate series (BG is exactly 13924592345x better than AC - Minsc's space hamster would kick the crap outta Ezio Altair). I don't get it - this, in my opinion, is the most overrated series of all time; I'd rather get another COVID vaccine needle jabbed into my arm, and get knocked over by flu-likes, than play another one of these.
You can buy this game on Steam for 9.99€ (about $13.00), which is significantly cheaper than the version offered by GOG (currently $19.99).
I understand that this is a DRM-free version with some added goodies, but I don't think the price difference is justified. True, the promo says you also get Heroes V if you buy it now, but if that causes the inflated price, then it isn't much of a promo, is it?
I love Ubisoft for letting go of DRM for one of their flagship titles, but I think the price is too high. If you do the math, the Steam version is 35% cheaper relative to the GOG version. The other way around it's even worse: the GOG version is 53% more expensive relative to the Steam version. Fifty-three percent!
my father was underaged, when he packed his mother ( the father had been taken to Russia at that time ) and fled to the west: an actual promoted doctor had offered him to adopt him.
How far away from warsaw did that happen?
You´d not believe it. It was something people get told to not believe to be important.
So: back to that game. What is the creed of the assassin?
