Actually I did't have that much fun with the game. This was due to my old Intel iMac that performed very poor with this game. And I am not into racing that much. Don't know why I bought it in the first place. But the music got me hooked!
At the beginning of the pandemic I created my own game engine. And this games music was the soundtrack to hours and hours of late night programming. Best money ever spend. Thank you so very much for the best hours in a kind of dark time.
turn all the assists off and this is fun.
there is only one downside from my perspective. if you're familiar with racing games, you'll have to get used to one peculiar thing about this game: sideways friction of your tires is virtually non-existent (the dev. has a thing for drifting). braking and accelerating have their friction just fine, it's just that going sideways doesn't slow you down like it should even on tarmac. everything feels a bit like ice in that respect.
the way you slow down a rally car on gravel in most simulators is not to brake heavy but throw the car sideways. here it won't work; you'll have to brake more into corners. other than that, the handling feels like you're driving a car and it's really fun.
This one is a real small masterpiece.
Most postive things about it has already been written down by alot of other people. Minimalistic look, great synthwave soundtrack, very nice handling of these cars.
I'm for sure a bit of a petrolhead, doing lots of sim racing stuff, but this thing is just the right mix between getting the right things right and still staying an fun arcade game. Things like this can only be done by indie developers. Just loving it.
One day, it might be nice to have more rallys and maybe even more cars, hope developers think about releasing more :-)
I wouldn't call myself a driving game enthusiast. In fact, the last driving game I can remember really enjoying is Burnout: Paradise City. But I am utterly hooked on this game.
I'm slowly working my way through the Career mode (I'm 100%ing 1st places and no restarts before moving onto later years) and I just made it to Group B. The progression until that point really made me appreciate the driving model. All through the first couple of groups it feels as if you are fighting to stay on the road, and at first I found that frustrating. However, the longer you play, the better you get at feathering the gas and brake, approaching turns better, and figure out when its safe to cut corners.
By the time you make it to the All Wheel Drive beasts in Group B, you appreciate the power and control because you've had to learn to cling to the road surface for dear life in the early groups.
Easy recommend.
A great tribute and homage to the old school rallying and some cool nods to historical events and great unique handling cars... Absolutely love this game... Can be as easy or difficult you want it to be. The art style, gameplay etc all make up...
