A strange but entertaining plot with humor and interesting dialog. Funny at times. Worked well in W10 and the graphics aren't bad at all. Overall worth the time spent playing it.

First time player
Just yesterday I finished my twitch stream of my playthrough of this game for the first time. My experience with previous Gothic games was only a tiny bit of the first game when it was brand new. I stopped playing that game due to the awful controls. Many years later I played this now and I have to say it was a fun ride. I will start with the negatives. The mini radar/map rotates and I hate it when it happens in games. I have to constantly open the large map to try to get some directions. There were some graphical glitches, but they never affected the gameplay. Some faces appeared weird colors (green or red) and there were some see through textures in faces when in closeup for the dialogue. Annoying perhaps, but really did not change the game at all for me. The game doesn't have a "GPS" showing you the quest you have activated, which while normal for older titles, it can be annoying a handful of times. One in particular near the end of the game I couldn't find a way into the area I needed to be and I spent like 20 min or more. If it was something that happened several times I would have taken a star out of the game, but as is...it's acceptable. I wish the inventory had sorting and way to check your equipped items when trading. Positives, music, sound effects are awesome. The graphics are above average to very good. The speech is from average to good. The combat mechanics are solid. Not difficult to learn and not too complicated where you feel like you are fighting with the controls. More complicated than say Diablo, but not by much. I liked that. The story should make sense to anyway who knows the world of Gothic. It didn't do much to me. I still found it an easy ride story wise. Apart from the ending cutscene. Confused the heck out of me. I played the game as a melee fighter who rarely used a bow/crossbow for some weak attacks. I enjoyed it. Other than the first hour or so, I never used magic. Nothing wrong with it. I enjoyed it. 3.8/5

Painfully boring.
This. Game. I can't believe they relased this as it is. It's so clearly unfinished. Out of the good things I can say about it : At the time the graphics were impressive. Weather effects looked good when it came out. That's about it. Even with this said, that is not the case everywhere. This is not an open world game. Older gothics used to be open. You could walk around, and get your ass kicked by strong monsters. In this you can't, as stronger mobs appear only in areas further in. In previous gothics, there was some decent, albeit clunky and buggy platforming. You could get used to it, and then it was like second nature. In this, you get the ability to jump, but more often than not it leads to your death. Invisible walls are everywhere. In this game, you are in enclosed spaces. One after the other. They got themes like marsh, jungle, frozen mountains etc. Basically no exploration, other than for filling your map. You might stumble upon a cave, but there is a big chance that cave is a part of a quest you need to do. You can clear it anyway, and complete the quest instantly. At worst, you'll find crafting reagents. Crafting is straight up boring. At best, you'll find some new equipment to use in combat. And the combat is boring as well. Not a good game. Not a good gothic game. Get if it's heavily discounted and you're bored. Slight spoilers below, avoid if you want to play this. The ending does not even make sense. You kill the gargoyle demon lady, and then some random orc, some other guy who is undistinguishable from any other npc in the game, and of course Thorus (because all of the main characters from the previous games are shoehorned into this) sucks a demon out of Rhobar III and it just cuts off. It's absolutely unfinished. Unless the DLC makes sense of this. I'm not willing to find out.

so bad is good?
This is a very strange game, is a bad game, in so many aspects but is also a fun game to play!? I can't just put my finger on it, the story is not it, is very simplistic, the RPG system is pretty bare bones, perhaps is the combat and the level design, I really don't know, but it made me finish it more than once. It also looks surprisingly good for the age, but as a few graphical bugs two that unfortunatly are unsolvable, like the "advanced shader" for faces is broken so turn that off and some water puddles reflections are also broken, but despite all this I pressed on and add fun untill the end. I will not say it is so good that you should buy it I will just say that, if you buy it and you know about its shortcomings you will probably have fun with it. Btw this game despite the new name, is still connected to the Gothic universe, but as a Gothic game is totally trash, is not even in the same league as the other, but if you excuse that connection and donpt mind the other issues I talked about, you may have fun with it, I did.
