Description
American Conquest: In the year 1492, travel to America as Christopher Columbus and ignite the fire that will fan 300 years of heated battles for land, riches, and freedom. In eight historical campaigns spanning 42 missions, you will take on the roles of great legends such as Francisco Pizarro and George Washington. Secure new technologies, unique weaponry, and improved fighting units, but also master the delicate world of diplomacy. Play with fire! Conquer America!
American Conquest Fight Back: Three centuries of war continue with frantic combat and desperate power struggles raging across the American continent. The Spanish press the attack in the Yucatan against the fierce Maya and Aztec nations. The Germans put all their efforts into finding the legendary El Dorado. The Pontiac Uprising ends in a terrifying bloodbath between Native Americans and the British. And the Russians will do anything to conquer Alaska at the cost of the Haida. Lead armies of thousands of troops to victory in large-scale battles in 10 missions.
Both games are a real treat for any strategy fan. But this is not a standard RTS, there is no simple build-send-and-forget here because even the biggest army can be defeated by a well coordinated, but relatively small force. Just like the old proverb says: “An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.”
Wage historical wars on an epic scale, with over 16.000 units on gigantic battlefields.
12 nations to choose from, each with its own unique set of units, buildings, technologies, and abilities.
Extensive battle mechanics that feature economical and political dependencies, unit formations, and tactical maneuvers.
Note: This game may require additional serial key for multiplayer mode. In order to receive one, please reach out to our Support team.
... sad!
I guess this is one of the few games that portraits nicely the genocide of millions of natives (from several parts of what became the american continent) by europeans.
Even still, fun to play and with very nice sound effects.
This looks like a pretty good game. However, owners have been complaining since 2017 about a problem. There is no manual. Not only no manual here, no manual out on the Internet. The "manual" listed on the product page is for the Editor, not the game. The Reference Cards listed on the product page are just lists of upgrades and nations.
As near as I can tell, I got AC as a freebie when I bought AC-FB. So maybe the manual is there? Nope. Also, NO MANUAL! I requested an explanation in an email nearly a week ago. GOG was going to get back to me in 24 hours. It's been120 hours, and not a word.
The manuals for the original product were on the CD and were not installed, but ran from the CD. But they existed. This is not a game you just sit down and intuit your way through. There are no tool tips. There is no help file. The are no texts associated with its unique and generally unrecognizable controls. If there's a tech tree, there's no clue how to view it.
To sum up, GOG has know about this problem for at least two years. I will be very careful before I buy anything else here.
game manual not included in download. gog is there one out there so you can include a game manual in download? docs in download are American Conquest - Multiplayer and editor.
