I have few copies of this classic avp from the era when it was new. I have hard time to figure out why it needs galaxy client. This production decision does not allow it to be run on legacy systems which I personally use as much as possible.
If you are using Windows 98 or XP get a used copy from some where else if you're going to pwn your friend(s) in lan =/
I only played the single player component so no comment/opinion on the multiplayer MP.
While AvP 2 came close, I still think this game, the original, is the best Aliens experience, as well as the best AvP game. Fast paced, minimal hand-holding, and very atmospheric.
I wound up applying a "cheat" to get unlimited saves, which honestly helped me get through the game faster than I deserved but I personally don't think it took away from the experience as there are some particular parts of each campaign that will have you playing the same ~20 minutes of game more than a few times.... The "cheat" can easily be found via an Internet search if interested.
Back in the day this game was quite a stunner. It combines great actionplay with a scary detail.
I remember playing this at night, in the dark and it really got to me.
Multiplayer was another fun factor, in fact i value this more than playing the storyline.
Going out there with other virtual marines and fight against aliens and predators was always a slaughterhouse.
It was quite ok to even shoot your fellow marine, as long as you killed the alien that was on top of him!
Got this game on gog on a discount, i wouldn't pay too much for it anymore, but at 1,49 eu im pretty ok with it.
I even have the original game here in my basement.
