Fun, But Sadly Part Dead

Aliens Versus Predator Classic 2000 Is An Updated Version Of An Overshadowed Classic FPS From 1999. Aliens Versus Predator Classic 2000's Singleplayer Is One Of The Best Singleplayer Campaigns To Come From An FPS, With Three Campaigns With Three Different Playable Characters That Will Each Keep Your Attention As You Worry About The Music Getting More Intense, And You Swear There Was Something Moving On The Wall. There Is The Xenomorph (Alien), A Creature That Runs At Almost The Speed Of Light, Can Climb Up Walls, Has A Special White, Black, And Blue Vision, And Can Attack By A Scratch Or Tail Whip, And You Can Leap At Someone Only To Launch Your Second Set Of Teeth. He Has A Small Amount Of Health That You Can Earn Back, And His Story Is Pretty Difficult, With A Few Quirks In Map Design. The Next Class Would Be The Colonial Marines, Who Have An Arsenal Of Weapons, Night Vision, And A Radar To Keep Track Of The Enemies. His Levels Are Pretty Simple And Straightforward, But Will Keep You On Your Toes As You Worry About That beep On Your Radar. The Last Character Is The Predator, The Most Difficult To Play As. He Is Relatively Slow, And Has A Small Arsenal Of Weapons That Can Be Quite Tricky To Use If You Haven't Learned How To Use Them. He Has A Ton Of Health, But Can't Run Away Like the Others Can. His Levels Are Most Of Tedious If You Can't Find Out How To Use His Weapons Correctly. being that It was Overshadowed by other great FPS's such as Unreal Tournament, it results in its biggest problem, the dead Multiplayer. Not a soul is on the Multiplayer, which is the best part to play. There Is Many Different Types Of Gamemodes, And You Have Full Control Over Every Rule When Its Started, And If You Leave, Someone Else Will Become Host. The Multiplayer Is Most Fun With All Three Characters, If Anybody Was Playing It. Don't Get This Game If You Don't Have Any Friends To Play The Game With, And You Want To Play The Multiplayer, Even Though Its The Best Part Of The Game.

Won't Run

Less of a review, more of a cry for help. Anytime I try and run the game, a message appears saying "Direct3D Initialisation Failure", even though the game has been updated to use DirectX 9.0. I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue and knows a solution, as I was really looking forward to playing this classic. I have Windows 10 on a newly purchsed HP laptop.

Old and outdated...

So, I actually mistook this game for being Aliens vs. Predator 2 which I had heard a lot of great things about, but unfortunately I bought the "classic" 2000 game which at best is probably an okay speedrunning experiencing. I know it is from a period where story was less focused on, but even so the campaign still feels empty and awkward. It is very arcadic as most missions don't feel connected very well to each other and if you try to understand their connection, you just get more confused. For example, why is the marine constantly being send in alone to deal with a nest of xenopmorphs, lol? Even so, the different gameplay style that each campaign features is pretty interesting and it is really cool that they experimented so much with the different races. The Xenomorph can climb walls, heals by killing victims, is incredible fast, but is also very fragile, so it is easy to kill it with weapons and fire. The Marine is the old school shooter with access to a variety of weapons, heals by finding medkits, but he is also weak in the dark as he need to use flares, nightvision, and the (in)famous movement tracker which causes constant tension when the beeping noise increases in both pitch and tempo as the aliens move closer to you in the dark... And the Predator that mixes both stealth and combat into a unique godly hunter-experience with auto-targeting weapons, full camouflage, boomerang-dish, three different vision-modes to adapt to your environments, and where all marines are basically cannon fodder and xenomorphs are bugs to be squished. Yeah, the various gameplay styles and different type of campaigns are pretty cool, though I pretty much suspect the later games improved on the formula making this classic 2000 version outdated and obsolete in terms of fun. Neither does the awkward in-game videos do much for the immersion as they are strangely acted and most of the actors look like random people taken directly from the street. Yes, it is old and outdated...
