Alien Shooter + Expansions

In Alien Shooter, you shoot aliens! It does this one thing, but it does it well. Made with "high resolution" sprite graphics, as opposed to polygons, Alien Shooter could run on the most basic systems of the early 00s. You have a between level shop system where you can buy better guns, replenish armor and extra lives. By the end of the game you are going to want to be rolling in cash, because you'll need all of that firepower for the last couple of stages! Its a very basic game, but its fun. As are it's sequel and spin-offs.

If you use a modern resolution, the game crashes on the first level after walking a few steps. The default legacy resolutions screw up the menu button layout, make the text and images nearly impossible to read/navigate, and the levels are a weird VGA-color mash-up that your character can barely walk around. The game looks like it could be fun and it probably was when it first released. But it's just not playable on modern systems and monitors.

2024 - and this is still old 1.2 version (vs Steam's 1.22). And it still has the same bugs of sometimes crashing while advancing to new level, or just because. And for some reason "Presentation copy. Not for sale!" flashes on top of the screen... It's still the same great game (when it works), but I'd recommend picking up updated version elsewhere.

Played it a lot as a kid, was quite happy to see it actually holds up. It is simple, but it does no wrong and doesn't waste your time. It's fun, it's good. Don't believe I've had as good of a time with any other twinstick shooter.

I played this game back in 2011 and I loved it, it was hilarious and I spent countless hours trying to beat the game. When I saw this game on GOG, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy it and say thank you to the developers who created this funny masterpiece that aged like fine wine.
