great isotropic shooter
you may hate them, but they add a surprising visceral quality that many other non tps or fps shooters don't. this game is a wonderful aggression waster. the AI is rather good, considering it's a more-monsters-the-better shooter. it's soundtrack is also very catchy. very bloody. that's always a plus.

A dull and repative
Alien shooter is an arcade shooter in the 3/4 perspective. You can chose between a male or female character though the differences are minor as the game focuses on sending swarms after you. That means your going to stand in certain area's and lure enemies out to kill them. At first the game seams fair and easy though in the third level and beyond, it starts setting up cheap ambushes where you can easily die if you don't have the right guns equipped. The surprised ambushes feel cheap as they can surround you and shoot acid at you. It's an artificial way of making the game harder that dulls the experience. It gets worse as you go along where you need to buy the newest gun you can for every level to stand a fair chance. The buy system feels more like another obstacle rather then a tool. I became annoyed that I didn't want to play it anymore. Graphically, Alien shooter decent where things look like what they should be. It looks like a clear 1996 PS1 game with no blurry textures. Enemies are color pallet swaps to indicate their increased toughness. There is only two themes in the game that are forgettable and dull. Overall I don't feel it's worth buying.

Fun!
This is a fun game, non stop action. The problem solving aspects are pretty simple (find stuff, blow stuff up) and the strategy revolves around weapon and character upgrades. The good news, each level will challenge you to solve the problem up to level 7 or 8.Plainfun The first few levels are the best becuase the weapons available at the time are different from each other and are useful in different situations. However, later on the earlier weapons become almost useless because of their low damage and/or firerate. Earlier levels really take advantage of the level design to create interesting encounters. However, once you get the "best" stuff, the last two levels are not a challenge at all. They have a TON of monsters to shoot up, but by that time you have the uber-gun and a fully developed character. Not very challenging on what should be the hardest levels. The only thing I don't like is that there are some later levels here where the enemy keeps teleporting in and you have to run past the teleporters to get the explosives to blow them up. The experience was just plain frustrating and cheap. It's pretty much a way to guarantee you have to spend money on armor, medkits or something, or else it's next to if not impossible to complete. Fortunately, it's only one level that's REALLY bad. Tip: Make good use of the freeze ray when running past the teleporters. The final level gets really cheap with Serious Sam style enemy warping in behind you ambushes. I don't mind a challenge, but I in my opinion the design was just laziness in creating a challenge on the developer's part. Overall, a great "time killer" game, you can pick up where you left off after a month without a hiccup. 4/5

Instant love!
I haven't played this game before but after I have played it only for some minutes I knew it is the game I was looking for years! The very cool scifi-like music tops it!
