When the wife of the best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. A Dark Presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity in his fight to unravel the mystery and save his love.
Presented in the style of a TV series, Alan Wake features the trademark Remedy storytelling and pulse-pounding action sequences. As players dive deeper and deeper into the mystery, they’ll face overwhelming odds, plot twists, and cliffhangers. It’s only by mastering the Fight With Light combat mechanic that they can stay one step ahead of the darkness that spreads across Bright Falls, in this psychological action thriller.
With the body of an action game and the mind of a psychological thriller, Alan Wake’s intense atmosphere, deep and multi-layered story, moments of sudden horror, and exceptionally tense combat sequences provide players with an entertaining and original gaming experience.
Includes Alan Wake Special Episodes “The Signal” and “The Writer”.

Eight gigabytes worth of bandwidth charges, minus $15 because GoG.com is a charitable institution, equals -- you what? "Half" price, plus... the "tragedy of the commons" non-cost? Who in the world gets 8 Gb of download giveaway for free? I'm envious.
CD Projekt, please ease off a little. You're embarrassing yourselves. Also, you're not alone in the DRM-free market. Google yourselves if you don't believe it.
Very tense atmosphere, but the controls are terrible. Alan moves like a drunk, there is significant lag when firing a weapon... Nah. I'll skip reloading 200 times, thanks.
Don't forget to feel bad if you only manage to collect 98 out of 100 coffee thermoses!
This game is simply awful, the game play is boring and repetitive, the world although nicely drawn in some areas is so limited in terms of exploration. The story although well acted is the most predictable piece of garbage I actually guessed every event in the story before I'd even started playing the section that led upto it, I'd already figured out exactly how it was going to end half way through the game, I played it the end just to see if I was right... Guess what? so many cliché's it's embarrassing. One of the worst AAA games in recent history.
Alan Wake shows that authors aren't gunslingers. Alan Wake walks and plays like he has a woodblock in his ass.
He can't go straigth, he can't reload his weapons fast, he runs slow, he has problems with jumping around, he turns around uncoordinated especially when foes are following him.
Sounds like a really good mixture for a 3rd-person-shooter programmed by the makers of good old Max Payne? Remedy entertainment are you kidding me? Alan Wake seems to be the pussy Duke Nukem always complained about in his games.
It's enough, that was my last try for this company. The programmed enemy chars don't seem to have these problems, but that's fair because they are always in majority. Enemies who materialise behind each corner out of nothing.
Always being hunted you also have to look for items to collect like papers or thermos jugs. Yes, really, thermos jugs. What a brilliant idea?! Did I mention that you always have low ammunition and that it is neccessary to combine the light of your lamp with firing bullets in the right way? But no problem, you will have to play the same scenes again and again and again because you can't save when you want.
2 stars only for the really nice looking scenery. It would have been better to program an adventure story of Alan Wake. I hate boring adventure games and therefore I would have saved my money.
