Advent Rising

I picked this up not long after it came out and had a blast playing it. The storyline is really good and the action is near non-stop. I really expected a sequel but it's like the game just vanished from everyone's radar as fast as it came out. I guess really it's biggest flaw is that it's not gruesome or bloody, I mean I don't find that to be a flaw, but I know lots of people that think if the violence it's 100% realistic then the game isn't any good. Regardless, I liked the game, you most likely will as well.

It had one of the most amazing stories, most beautiful music and colourful atmospheres present in a game of its time and class. Yet how it has never got a sequel astonishes me still, perhaps the lack of marketing forced it into a niche market. If you haven't played it yet try it, it won't disappoint.

Ah....I remember this game. Tons of hype around it, the beginning of an epic trilogy. I pre-ordered it, had the highest hopes for it, but it just...sucked. I can't even remember why it sucked, in fact there's nothing memorable in this entire game. I'm not interested in going back and reliving why this game was so sub-par and both sequels were cancelled. It's a generic third person shooter, the story didn't really suck, but it was simply OK. Nothing to see here. If it wasn't good then, I don't see how the age could have made it any better.

This is one of my favorite game. I still remember it. It's rare for me. I don't really like old games and I'm not playing old games. But. It's not the case! Gameplay, Drama, Music - everything still perfect.

It is far from perfect, but Advent Rising provides an entertaining and fun experience. The game is about humanity's struggle versus hostile aliens, with the player as one of the main fighters for humanity. The combat mostly consists of shooting, although you get some interesting abilities later, and I found those to be much more original and fun than the generic weapons - although every weapon has an alt fire, which were pretty varied (like a grenade launcher or a big plasma ball). The storyline is the best part of the game, pitting you against a race of aliens that has ulterior motives against humanity (and allied with one that wants to help humanity). The game is worth playing for the storyline alone. The game could probably be a couple of hours shorter, but it didn't seem dull in many spots. Overall, I would recommend this game, especially if you enjoy Halo or other sci-fi shooters.
