Interactive Movie

It's an interactive movie. Very pretty, but let down a bit by the (lack of) expressiveness of the characters. Nice music. Story is pretty cool, entertained me, but I did not get emotionally invested.

Great story, medium gameplay

Bought the game as it was suggested from another open world game, so this was a little misguiding, but stayed and played the game until the end for the story. If you want to play an open world or don't want to watch all the cutscenes(there are a lot). Then this game is definitely not for you. The only decisions that you can take are sneaking behind guards, or just using your sling to kill them and clear the area and go to some alley to get some extra cutscenes. But those doesn't change any outcome of the game. Most "puzzles" are also obvious, you don't need to think much. You only have one outcome, so once you complete the game, it will end up in the shelve/(online) library and stay there. The story is really good, the mystery on what's going on is really good written. As you are following the story, you can just start playing it without any tutorial upfront. It is also nice, that some decisions make the side characters say something. One of the great points is also the character build up. In the beginning you are like "ok you are amicia and hugo will be you're companion", but after first or second chapter it's not just the main character and companion, you get more attached to the characters. I do recommend the game if you are into stories and mystery and character building.

Solid plaguethrough!

Set in the Kingdom of France during the Hundred Years' War, "A Plague Tale: Innocence" tells the equally compelling and morbid story of young Amicia de Rune and her little brother Hugo, as they are pursued by the Inquisition through a land ravaged by a horrifying blight. Developed by the Bordeaux, France-based Asobo Studio and published by Focus Home Interactive, "A Plague Tale: Innocence" proves to be a bit of a sleeper hit that can be easily overlooked in the deluge of spectacular AAA titles. While this game clearly doesn't have the biggest budget in the world and on occasion one can tell that the developers are punching a little bit above their weight, the effort that has been clearly dedicated to this title is absolutely charming, and it soon becomes obvious that "A Plague Tale" is way more substantial than the sum of its parts. The story stretched over around 8 hours of the campaign is amazingly efficient at tying the consecutive challenges and tasks together, the gameplay is varied enough to cover even for the weakest of its elements, and the consistently solid VO work is almost as impressive as the very clever and creative use of music. While this title isn't perfect, it is definitely worth the time of those who appreciate releases like "The Last of Us", "Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons", and "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice". In other words - 'tis a game worth plagueing!

Hope you ain't afraid of rats!

Wasn't sure what to expect but with the rave reviews I wanted to check it out. The praise was not unwarranted- the game is dark(right from the start, sorry dog lovers), grotesquely beautiful, immersive, and has some great storytelling. I like that you are not some uber-hero, and all you have is a damn sling, and have to protect your (mostly) useless brother the bulk of the time. Sneak is definitely the key here, especially for the first half. I really like the creativity with the rats, avoiding, then using them. Final boss battle was truly some crazy bizarre stuff. Let's just say RATS INTENSIFIES. Only criticism would probably be some of the expressions of characters seem a bit..lifeless. Kudos for the photo mode, I like seeing it without needing something like Ansel.
