I really want to give a higher score...
It's the kind of game that feels like there is something underneath, the kind of game that has that IT factor that keeps you coming back. There is some very neat RPG-Lite mechanics, and a lot of great lore that slowly reveals itself. The art style is well chosen, and the audio compliments it beautifully...but...as you'll find others state, your experience with the RNG is going to make or break your opinion of this game. For the most part in the non-combat sections it leans on the mildly annoying side, the steps back greater than the steps forward, but in the combat, it can take an entertaining game you want to play more of and morph it into a a depressing spiral of failed and missed choices. I've tried to keep going back and playing this, keep reading other peoples strategies and the game mechanics, but the RNG has destroyed me. I have failed things repeatedly that I should not have, I have gotten in good positions in fights, only to have the enemy suddenly have 3 shots in a row and put me into a fail spiral. For me, it didn't matter how I rolled a character, how I played that character, the game would fall apart for me relatively early on where I just watch a stream of failed / missed from my character. The only small victory came , after about 15 failed games I had enough points to start a new game to get me a bit further, before RNG stuck me in an epically long 50 odd round of combat filled failed desperate attempts to survive, wiping out my desire to play anymore. The game is cheap enough it's worth sticking in your account because you'll probably get enough value out of it, and the game feels like the developer really put effort and love into it, but beware the RNG. You might be another person online who succeeded spectacularly in your first play through, or you might end up like one of us who despite their best and varied efforts, are yet to really get off the starting blocks. Final thoughts; Game has an 80% chance of succeeding... so naturally a miss.
