Short, Simple, Unique, FUN!

4.5/5 7.5/10 Very good 2d puzzle platformer! Its actually one of the best minimalistic style games Ive played so far, only a few others come to mind that I really enjoyed such as Super Orb Collecter, Super Space Grower and Super Space Jump Man and this beats those. Despite being so simple and short its got a lot of love and detail in it with the music and rhythm aspects which is the games best part. How you need to listen and time your moves and trust those beats is superbly done tbh. Note that the game require fast eye/hand skills in a few spots, but really only on the end bosses. Its short but great, and simple in terms or playtstyle/keybinds: there is no mouse input, you only use movement keys which is wasd or arrow keys, and jump on space. There is no menu/options, its minimalistic in every way ;D You press and hold esc to quit game. There are 4 lvls which get a little harder each time. + the same 4 afterwards but without checkpoints. Im not that skilled nor got the patience for that but I did give it a try until I died and then left it at that. Its there for those that like the challenge. I would say that the third lvls end boss was the hardest, it require you to observe and understand how it works but mainly to trust ur eye hand coordination skills while being spun around which was the hardest part, to reorient yourself which needs to be fast there. All lvls and bosses were fun even the third one and unlike most games where you die repeatedly it was more fun than annoying to beat, which is rare in games today! Only downside is that if you have to leave the game you need to restart the lvl. But again, its short enough and you can play the whole game in one sitting, certainly a lvl or two. For the deaf I would say that you can still play and beat it without hearing the beat/rhythm, by way of remembering and learning certain parts by counting./timing. Its harder sure but not impossible imo. As others mention here and elsewhere I would also love a sequel to this, or something else/similar! I didnt even uninstall it after finishing it b/c I know I will go in and play a lvl here and there occasionally for a break and variation from whatever other game Im playing, its just fun and that rhythm jumping is so satisfying when you get it right. Would love to see their other game Thoth here on GOG too! Can def recommend if you enjoy these type of games and despite being short and minimalistic, its worth full price b/c of the quality and uniqueness within its genre and type. 🐧 Arch Linux EndeavourOS

Nice and challenging game

140 is a short game (I finished it in around 2:20h), but it is a nice one, and very challenging as well. I've found the boss sections to be difficult, but with enough practice, you'll finish them. 140 also focuses heavily on its soundtrack so that you can progress, which I find interesting. Overall, it's a nice game, but beware: you might suffer a little.

Great game, little hard on eyes though

It's short (beat it in 2.5 hrs) but it was really enjoyable experience - I bought it on sale for 1 € but I wouldn't feel cheated even if I payed the full price. I liked the unique art style and the idea of having to follow the subtly evolving background track to get into the rhythm. I can imagine this kind of game (with many segments being very timing-sensitive) getting very frustrating - however, thanks to very frequent checkpoints, this is not the case, as you'll usually only have to replay a short segment before progressing further - and I didn't find any of them too hard. The key is to stay calm and focused, especially in the boss fights. If you think they're too hard, you've probably never played any old school arcade scrolling shooter - or you're raging too much :) They're challenging (which is good) and it took a me a couple (dozen) attempts to beat the final one but it's only about learning the rhythm and once you do, you'll realize there's nothing unfair about them. The only thing where I could see an improvement was the choice of color schemes - I've found most of them rather unpleasant and aggressive on eyes, with little harmony between the colors and some of them being too bright and/or saturated for being used in large areas. I really wish the authors would have spent more time creating more subtle color schemes for the levels - this simple improvement could have drastically enhance overall vibe and feeling of the game. Anyway, it's still a really nice little game.

Overall = 8/10

A fun and challenging minimalistic rhythm based platformer with catchy synthesized music and lots of colourful patterns. Simple gameplay and very challenging bosses, but it never feels unfair – you just have to get in with the rhythm. Could do with more levels, and at least a checkpoint before the bosses in the mirror levels!
