I have a lot of thoughts about Mass effect, especially the direction Andromeda went. It makes a lot of choices for the narrative and setting and characters that makes it almost an awkward caricature of what you know from the previous games.
I think this game needs to be respected for being bold enough and recognizing that the way to create a new start within the setting was by changing what galaxy you're in, changing the setup and using all this to essentially create a new start for mass effect. It's a risk you don't see taken often and something that I don't think people praise this game for.
Outside of this the base gameplay has the best shooting in the series, the abilities feel closer to actual skills to add to the combat formula although not as varied as what you were capable of in 1. It has essentially the equivalent of destiny 2 strikes you can team up online for with different difficulty modifiers and exploration with base building even if it didn't have the best execution. So much of this is really cool to see when they knew this was a big risk. Although it's visuals aren't the greatest and rather unoptimized, it has such a prevalent modding scene that having this available on GOG, not only so it can be kept available forever due to EA's rather negative characteristic of not really providing games for players in the long term, but so there can be a much more stable modding base floor for the community that can make this game hopefully something incredible the more time passes as a sort of second chance for the game.
