Why did they have to make things so difficult with Windows Live?
I tried to give this game a try long ago, but failed due to the whole thing being far too complicated. I simply gave up.
I don't know what the general opinion of this game was due to the far more cartoonish paintjob and a relatively small number of playable civilizations. Although, the statistics would seem to imply that the game had its fair share of players despite having a lifespan of only three years.
The detractors will no doubt say this was among the titles that started the usually disliked trend of temporary live service games.
When Microsoft shut this down, it was reportedly due to the content being too expensive to maintain. I don't know how good GOG is with maintaining online multiplayer games, but if the entire thing would prove too much for GOG, I would recommend you to at the very least re-release a possibly offline version of the game that would include the single player quest campaigns.
That way those people who were fans of the game would have at least some remains of it to enjoy if they want.
