Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate

Works great on win 7 and 8. On Windows 10 it does not work at all.

Despite being a game from '98, the graphics are acceptable. The game requires very complex thinking and strategic planning. A relic from a time before the Warhammer 40000 title was diluted. The soundtrack is likely the best W40k game soundtrack (if we don't count the Ultramarines movie) even though the singers have problems with pronuncing the latin words (you won't notice if you're american) and issues with the proper inflection of latin words.

Ein super Geniales Spiel! Habs noch auf CD leider seit 2-3 WindowsVersionen nicht mehr ans laufen bekomen. Natürlich etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber mir machts immer noch Spass, mal paar Runden zu spielen. Realistische einschätzung ist eher 3, da doch einige längen drin sind und es in manchen missionen sinn macht mit wenigen stärkeren Charakteren (z.B. in Gebäuden) oder erstmal 5-6 Runden mit Fernkämpfern (wie Raketenwerfer o.ä.) zu kämpfen. Mir Persönlich aber immer noch 5 Sterne Wert, tolle Atmo., gute Musik, Nostalgiefaktor und es kann mit vielen Spielen (besonders EarlyaccessDingern) mithalten kann die tw. für 15-20 Euro auf den Markt geschmissen werden.

This game is a descendant of the X-Com franchise, to the point it has almost the exact same gamplay elements. The most notable difference is that the base management has been removed. On the other hand, the combat side of the gamplay has been enhanced with more weapons, more kinds of units, a focus on melee combat, a more detailed experience system and psychic powers. The result is a Warhammer 40K X-Com game, where you face Chaos forces using the Space Marine arsenal. If you are a fan of X-Com or Warhammer 40K, this game is a must.

This is one of my fav games of all time And was happy to see that GOG had it. Game installed and started with no issues. Spent an hour organizing my squads only to have it crash when starting a mission. Tried uninstalling and reinstall in diff detectors, use and changing the dif EXE files, and comparability modes. Then I found this: Note that GOG recommend that the installation path only have 2 subfolders and 35 characters total to avoid the game crashing when starting a mission I uninstalled everything including GOG Galaxy. Reinstalled GOG Galaxy to the C:\ drive, installed Chaos Gate and missions starts with no issues
