Syberia 3: The Complete Journey

The first two games were so good that I wanted to play this one. But the gameplay was just painfully bad.

The camera angles are crap, new way of navigating is crap. It makes it take 5x longer to complete tasks. Only reason for 2 stars are improved graphics, and some decent voice acting.

Ich weiß noch, wie ich mich 2004 über die Veröffentlichung von Syberia 2 gefreut hatte. Die ersten beiden Spiele besitze ich in Original Boxen. Das Ende war halb abgeschlossen und halb offen geblieben. Ich dachte mir wie schön es doch wäre, wenn ein dritter Teil kommen würde. Und tatsächlich, viele Jahre später, kam sogar ein Syberia 3, den ich zuerst vorbestellt hatte, aber dann doch skeptisch wurde. Ich hätte sehr gerne eine Box-Version davon gehabt, aber wegen der Rezensionen wurde ich dann doch misstrauisch. Viele mögen den Look der Benoit Sokal-Spiele nicht, ist ja auch geschmacksache, aber Spiele wie Syberia und Amerzon sind super schön und atmosphärisch gut gemacht. Vor kurzem hatte ich die Gelegenheit ergriffen und im Sale dann doch Syberia 3 zugelegt gehabt. Ich wollte einfach Wissen wie die Geschichte um Kate Walker weiter geht. Und Kate Walker ist auch wunderschön. Wie ihr Verlobter sie verlassen konnte, wie konnte er nur...? Die Steuerung: Ich sehe ein, die Steuerung ist der größte Kritikpunkt auch bei mir. :-) Aber man kann sich schon daran gewöhnen. Der Look von Benoit Sokal ist auch hier wieder sehr gut eingefangen worden, was man vor allem bei den Charakteren erkennen kann. Aber auch die Umgebungen sind sehr schön gemacht und lassen an die ersten beiden Syberia-Teile erinnern. Ich bin froh Syberia wieder erleben zu dürfen und es ist ein gutes Adventure für Fans der ersten beiden Spiele.

I very liked Syberia 1 and 2, but this one is not easy to use ex: turning stuff manuelly and with many bugs. I just don't want to finish the game :/ when I paid for it.

I was going to give this game a 2 star review but the bugs kept me from completing the game. Instead the inventory required to complete the last puzzle was completely empty of all previous items picked up. I needed the knife and lighter for the furance but they weren't there. The only thing I could try to do was reload the saved game and hope, but no use. There maybe other ways to load an earlier game but as far as I know the game simply overrides the save file. Regardless, I'm done with the game. So, I'm at the end of the game with no way of completing it. That's the worst of the bugs I encountered. Others leading up to this finale were camera incorrectly panning, cursor disappearing and game freezes. This was one incredibly buggy title. Now then, the annoying, immersion breaking, intentional aspects of the game; were the horrible tank controls with automatically changing camera angels; beyond untalened voice acting (Except Captain Obo), as another reviewer mentioned, "one voice actor actually says the word 'sniff' rather than, sniffs*. Kate, even though she's the same iconic voice, now sounds like she's reading a childrens book and not acting. I hate to say that but there must've been no voice director. Much like the first game when the two characters were pronouncing "Helena" two different ways in conversation. All of the characters are from the USSR, or what's left of it, and all have American English accents with no hint of slavic anywhere. They could've at least tried to immerse the audience with some authenticity. If Slavs are going to speak english, they might as well have an accent, just as a tourist asking for directions would expect.
