A disappointment...

Syberia 1 & 2 were just beautiful. Everything about them was such a joy to behold. This one... craps all over thir legacy. The story is 'wtf', the animations are very poor and lack-lustre, NPC's constantly walk into walls and stop moving, Kate's pathfinding can be utterfly dreadful, and not to mention the controls!! There is no possible way this was QA tested and the tester said 'Yep, it's perfect, no notes'. You are constantly fighting the camera. Actions are slow, dialogue is UNSKIPPABLE and repeats itself a lot, and although it has a long playtime (about 10hr at 40% complete as of this review- only fell asleep once) it is padded BIG TIME with slow, monotonous, repetitive dialogue, super slow animations, huge screens with nothing to look at and, for some strange reason, the background music reminds me of Xena! I do love Xena, but in this setting it doesn't make any sense. Dialogue choices are misleading and make no difference- I didn't expect them to change anything, but when I choose an angry response, I don't expect what Kate actually says to be whiny and annoying. Voice acting rarely matches the characters which really annoys me. I got this for cheap, just to finish the trilogy, but it has pretty much nothing to do with 1 & 2. I feel like Sokal just wanted to send a message, and after playing the Prologue for The World Before, that's probably right.

It's not that bad

Compared to the height of the first two parts, that's really not comparable. However, the game developers have tried some good modern treatments, and although some players may not like it, I actually play it well. If you can accept: Strange perspective switching Some small bugs, big and small Occasional animation model loss and minor texture issues Our nomad's mobility is worrying. (Reminds me of the second season of the game "Walking Dead") Then you can go play and don't give up this sequel just because the rating is low.

Different but not great

I very liked Syberia 1 and 2, but this one is not easy to use ex: turning stuff manuelly and with many bugs. I just don't want to finish the game :/ when I paid for it.

Nothing like I remembered from Syberia.

I was going to give this game a 2 star review but the bugs kept me from completing the game. Instead the inventory required to complete the last puzzle was completely empty of all previous items picked up. I needed the knife and lighter for the furance but they weren't there. The only thing I could try to do was reload the saved game and hope, but no use. There maybe other ways to load an earlier game but as far as I know the game simply overrides the save file. Regardless, I'm done with the game. So, I'm at the end of the game with no way of completing it. That's the worst of the bugs I encountered. Others leading up to this finale were camera incorrectly panning, cursor disappearing and game freezes. This was one incredibly buggy title. Now then, the annoying, immersion breaking, intentional aspects of the game; were the horrible tank controls with automatically changing camera angels; beyond untalened voice acting (Except Captain Obo), as another reviewer mentioned, "one voice actor actually says the word 'sniff' rather than, sniffs*. Kate, even though she's the same iconic voice, now sounds like she's reading a childrens book and not acting. I hate to say that but there must've been no voice director. Much like the first game when the two characters were pronouncing "Helena" two different ways in conversation. All of the characters are from the USSR, or what's left of it, and all have American English accents with no hint of slavic anywhere. They could've at least tried to immerse the audience with some authenticity. If Slavs are going to speak english, they might as well have an accent, just as a tourist asking for directions would expect. Oh, it was so frustrating to listen to these people just read from the script. Gameplay: bad Story: Bad Graphics: Meh OST: Awesome Bugs: Frequent

Great, but buy the Steam version.

Look, the game is a little rough at times, but the developers have provided patches. The latest patch available on GOG is 1.57, while the latest on Steam is 2.2. The latter fixed quite some issues, one of which blocks progression! Safe yourself some frustrations and buy the Steam version!
