Aspires For AAA, But Achieves Mediocrity
The game seems shallow, rushed, and unpolished, despite being priced alongside higher-end games. I found it impossible to become immersed for a number of reasons: - The opening is poorly optimized, with flicker and frame drops, poor audio mixing drowning out voices, and massive overuse of filters and blurs. - The art feels obviously rushed and incomplete. There are many places where sketches/text stand in for missing animations/cutscenes. It feels like they were reaching for AAA, but ran out of money partway and had to ship with a lot of placeholder art and narration. It would have been better for immersion to aim lower and achieve a consistent look & feel. - The disconnect between looking (freely in 3D) and moving (confined to a grid) is jarring. A ninety-degree rotation occurs in around 1/10 of a second, and is so heavily blurred as to be dizzying. - I had zero connection to the characters. When you first take control, you have three party members, each with half a dozen unique, named skills. It feels like taking over someone elses D&D campaign halfway through. - Touching an enemy model in the game world pauses time and transports you to a 2D space where you fight a turn based battle, a la Final Fantasy. It takes you out of the moment -- kinda like in The Return Of The King, when The Mouth of Sauron strides out to face Aragorn, and then it smash-cuts to a 2D animation where they play Pokemon for the fate of Middle Earth. - The voice acting ranges from "decent" to "just awful." It really takes you out of the story when the monotone robot lady drones out "I've never a creature like that before" with all the emotion of Ferris Beuller's teacher. - Progression seems limited and shallow, and the combat felt very gimmicky. Nothing occurs in real time, so combat is closer to a card game, choosing which cards to play based on resistances and the gimmicks of the round. The game isn't awful, but it's a 2.5/5, rounded down to 2/5 because it's priced as a high-end game.

Not good
Combat in this game is so boring. Particularly the one in the castle with the infinitely respawning burning zombies. Your party just doesn't deal enough damage each attack for those boring filler fights. It just drags on for way too long.

Verbatim Potato!?
Rushed to write a review only to find that the non-sale price was at this time is possibly ten credits more than I expected. Also it is surprisingly new being released in 2020. Other than that, compared to the other 'on sale' turn based crawlers I've gogged so far (of three this being third) it stands out as the most enjoyable, putting the 3D aspect aside and the fact it has a 'bright green' problem on my graph-card, the game is definitely fun, reminding me of a PS1 game called Jade Cocoon. Strangely having the same logical design as Warframe in places (why?) and being 'potato' funny in an obscure sense, worth a 'sale' play but then I don't tend to indulge in such things verbatim.
