Grand scope, huge battles, capital ships that bristle with weapons, tight controls and dogfighting, challenging, but never unfair. ... as a Space Sim Fan... this is pretty much the game I have waited for for a long long time.
It's a bit more on the arcade side than Wing Commander or Tie Fighter, but definitely not a "pure arcade" Gameplay reminds me of titles like Aquanox.
Storyread more could have used some more attention, but the gameplay more than makes up for it. Love it.

I like the game and it's worth buying (DRM-free). However do not expect Freespace or any other space sim that has you tweaking power distributions, indulging in ship porn, or engrossing you in a high stakes futuristic intergalactic war. This is the space equivalent of Ace Combat.

This game delivers big battles with great atmosphere during regular game play and when it does, it feels great.
In between, playing the game is often frustrating as some play styles are more favored than others and if you do not abuse the mechanics as much as possible, you will die quite often.
As soon as I figured out, how I was supposed to play, I didn´t die again and couldread more enjoy the game more.
Variation is a bit on the short side, but just participating on these big battles is a sight to behold and I will replay these quite a bit.
It is refreshing to find a game, in which other ships do not only serve as background, but actually destroy targets and can even win the mission for you - as long as you do your share and support them.
The story is serviceable but whoever decided to not place a single save point in the last mission ... thanks for the trip to exposition lane, but don´t make us play this over and over ....
In short: Alone the battles with the mesmerizing atmosphere, that comes up quite often is enough for me to love most of this game. Having to play it in a certain way however, felt very limiting and would be my biggest complaint.
I would love to have a sequel or any game like this, that dares to provide these epic battles, in which you may play an important role but are not the only thing moving things forward.
