dannydaman9: I got a reply from team 17. I have attached the email below. It looks like they cannot find the error. Also would like to point out that Holy hand grenades and banana bombs do not work for me (weird thing though is that the super banana bomb works fine).

pampaliny: They dont even know what is different between gog and steam version ? Why nobody with Steam version has the same problem ? We should have the same build like Steam but without DRM no? Thats what i dont understand...
avatar
dannydaman9: There are a few users reporting it on steam so it doesn't appear to be an isolated issue. Just more people reporting it on gog version than on steam version. They can be found here
Well i cant see any problems with water on the forum which you post. Sure there is more bugs but water makes the game unplayable.

If you use indescructable boarders you can play however it does reveal more bugs with the weapons

And yes vexorg2k you may use this for the steam thread

Erm this is concerning...Got a second reply from them:

Hello again Daniel,

Thank you for getting back to us with this information so promptly.

We’re not able to reproduce this issue in-house and believe that it might be unique to your system or account.

The files you’ve kindly provided have been passed on to the team for investigation.

In the meantime, we would also like to request confirmation of the following:

1. The store from which you purchased this game (GOG or Steam)

2. Whether you have downloaded the game through the GOG Galaxy client (if purchased through GOG)

Our apologies one again.

Thank you for your continue support,

Team17
Did someone tried to launch the mission editor ? It doesn't work at all for me : when I try to launch it through GOG menu (I'm not using Galaxy) or when I launch directly the wwpeditor.exe in the directory, I have this message :

ERROR: count not find 'C:\GOG Games\Worms World Party Remastered\user\missions' directory

avatar
Treehugger: GOG.com Customer Support got back to me, suggesting I reinstall (as administrator), add the game to my antivirus software's exception list, reinstall DirectX 10, and update graphics drivers. The game still froze in exactly the same way. I've now logged a report via www.team17.com/support/ .
Exactly the same here (they even suggested me to install again Visual C++ 2013 SP1 Redistributable Packages, and to check settings of my graphic device : it didn't worked too).
I'll send a ticket to Team17 support too.

avatar
Treehugger: I'm disappointed, but I'll give Team 17 a chance to fix it.
Same :)

Started wwpeditor.exe directly in Windows Explorer. Works fine for me.

Edit: Does the directory exist? If not, you should try reinstalling.

It's working and think I found what was my problem : I simply made a clean install, and it seems that you must launch the game at least one time before launching the mission editor :P

Concerning worms-hit-water-crash : monday there should be a new version available of WWPR which should fix this !
See here :D

Kingpuddycat: - Game freezes 100% of the time if a worm goes to the drink.
- Game menu freezes when trying to look up team stats or trying to change team weapons
- Major FPS issues during game play. Even when playing using 800x600 resolution.
Water freeze — confirmed
Team stats freeze — confirmed
FPS issues — confirmed

Hmmm....I never used GOG Galaxy Client to download the game - maybe this is the difference? The people that aren't experiencing the worm-hit-water crash maybe used Galaxy? Surely this wouldn't be it, hey? Can anyone confirm this that aren't running into this bug?

Anyway, good to hear there is a fix come Monday. :-)

This is excellent news! Too bad we have to wait until Monday, but I guess GOG staff should have their weekend off. :)

The water bug has nothing to do with the client you used to download the game with.
It seems that two versions of the game exist: The GOG-Version which has the water-bug and the Steam-Version
which doesn't have the water bug.

But anyway, i asked gog.com for a refund on this game and all they sent to me was a standard-mail if i checked my DirectX/Visual C++ blah blah whatever settings/installation.

I mean, come on let's face it: gog.com didn't even test a game that they sell in the name of Team17 and point me back to the Team17 support?? WFT?? This game is unplayable and i mean for 90+ % of all users which bought the game from gog.com. How about taking some responsibility and give people their money back for an UNPLAYABLE game at release?

Shame on both companies... Next time i'll think about if it will be gog or Steam when i buy another game.

Ok, I'm quite disapointed with this release... If it wasn't ready they should just have delayed more, I didn't need to play it today, but I certainly need to have a playable game.

1 - First time I launched the game it just crashed before seeing the logo screen.

2 - They didn't even took time to make the menus in HD resolutions with wide screen support. And when I say HD I just mean 1280x800. When you make people pay for a "remaster" you have to make some efforts... I already bought the original game, I'd like something better.

3 - Just can't play the game... I know my laptop is quite old and just embed a radeon mobility HD4570 but I can run games like Half Life 2 or more recent games like tale tale games or almost any 2D game in general, even new ones. In fact it's fine when computer is playing, but when it's my turn I have massive FPS drop. Haven't checked with an FPS counter but it's really bad, I think I don't have more than 10fps. Didn't even try to use weapons but might be even worse with explosions and stuff.

Shit... I was so happy to put my money again in a game I loved so much when I was younger and I just feel kind of fooled. For now I'd say to anyone to don't give money for this game until patches come to fix all this... This game was fucking running on a Playstation. How the hell can't they make something running smoothly now? HighRes textures isn't an excuse.

gryfon: Same here - first game and as soon as a Worm hits the water:

The screen freezes.
Music continues.
You can alt-tab in and out of the desktop and back, but the mouse is missing - makes it harder to kill the app in Task Manager.
Task Manager shows the game executable as "Not Responding".

Hope they find it and fix it soon.

Regards,

Gryfon

EDIT: I have reported the details of this issue to the "support" tab of the GOG website. I suggest everyone having any issue (with any GOG game) also do the same. Don't leave it to others, because the more people who report a problem, the quicker they will act to fix it.
We are having the same issues...... Disappointing that they couldnt delay the release and made double sure that the game worked :( . Like most, paid for this game a month ago, and STILL have nothing playable....... Yes, I drown my worms FREQUENTLY !!! LOL

I don't know about that because this also occurred in a Youtube video I watched and it's more likely that it was the Steam version, I guess
Edit: That's the video I watched - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FpjLL3LeDk - The youtuber bought Heroes III HD which might indicate that he/she has never heard of GOG. :P

Would you care to prove that claim of yours?

???
On GOG you have a 30 days period of time to ask for a refund if your game is broken. On Steam you've only got 2 hrs time. How on earth would it be more sensible to buy it on Steam, then?

As far as I know, GOG test every game they publish beforehand but apparently neither them nor the devs encountered these bugs. I don't think on Steam the games are curated at all.

Gog077: snip
Yeah, Team17 is a pretty shameless company apparently.
Even though I haven't bought the game yet I agree with every word you said.
How could they be so bold to even make the game available for pre-order?

Let's hope Team17 aren't only forced to make the game playable but they also make it more of a Remaster.

I would like them to make a resource-efficient, truly wide-screen-enabled, natively Linux-compatible and DRM-free WWP. :)

Maybe Team17 should make a survey about how many customers experienced the water bug.
If 50% have this bug, the game should be marked as unplayable and it should be taken off the store until a fix is available.

As i said, i wrote an email to the game specific support and sent the wanted dxdiag.txt and asked for steps i could take to get a refund. All they mailed back was a link to the support page from Team17 where i expected an answer like "We are sorry about so many people experienced the water bug and you can get your money back if you fill out form xy or click some certain link.".

Giving a refund would be the least gog.com could do. But they still sell it. People pre-ordered the game, they pushed back the release one week and we still can't play it... As for me, gog's behaviour already alienated me. Nuff said!
