Pinglauwa: Why would you want to change his teeth up? You even said yourself that you like engrossing yourself. People having white teeth in medieval times is not very normal. A guy like Geralt would have such teeth as he has in the game, but actually guys like Dethmold. They would have the money to take care of their teeth, so I find it funny that he's the one with the worst.
Luckily Geralt is immune to cavities and tooth decay thanks to his Witcher powers. Guess they're just a tad yellowed from smoking every now and then :D
I wonder what it was like to kiss before toothpaste.

Did people just never kiss, or use their mouths, or were you so inundated in the smells and stenches that you didn't even notice?

I spent 9 months in a third world country as a naive little young adult seeking some sort of epiphany in the act of traveling, and one thing I can say from that experience is that even after 9 months, I did not get used to the sheer intensity of human stenches in a non-modern society, so I've always wondered, if 9 months isn't long enough, how long is?

It really puts the sex in these medieval/fantasy settings into a different perspective though. ;p

Not naive. It didn't work for you, but for some people it does. Some people are entirely different when they get home. Maybe they don't want to come home. Maybe they despise their own country?

revial: I'm just amazed we haven't had a single nude mod request yet. That's usually the #1 mod request for any game.
Revial, you have awoken the beast !!!

Yes and no. I know that it was very common to eat 'spiced up' stuff with very odor strong spices that would basically kill the bad breath. Chewing on mint was also a good way to freshen up. And Sage was used for actually brushing your teeth. So you could imagine that people in the country side with mint and sage all over would probably have alright teeth, or at least an alright breath, even though they were probably poor. I think the poor people in towns were worst off. They didn't have the money to buy such things and didn't have the natural resources to gather it themselves.

GhostCrab: I'm all for engrossing, convincing fiction, but can someone get Geralt a danged tooth brush. Those closeup scenes where he grins and talks to people are marred by his gross teeth. I'm no artist, so maybe someone else can help me out and clean up those teeth textures to be more appealing.

Thanks guys!
Come on mate, it's 800 years ago and they haven't quite invented fluoride yet!

People hundreds of years ago who wanted white teeth would often swish their mouths with their own urine as it was pretty effective at whitining teetth. The downside was it did this by dissolving a thin layer of the teeth thereby eliminating the stains and eventually destroying all of your enamel. And with no real dentistry to speak of back then the consequences of having a mouth full of rotting teeth could prove deadly.
I was hoping this was about a g-string mod
I am not so sure of how people's teeth looked like back then. It is certain, though, that they did not have the same problems that we have now as their sugar intake was not in comparison to modern times.

I saw a archaeological documentary where they found a 600 year old sunken ship, somewhere between Finland and Sweden. The people (read skeletons) they found on the ship had immaculate teeth and the people were seafarers.

It is easy to think that humans had worse teeth in the past as our technological advances has given us super tools to enhance and mend our teeth. Sugar is, however, the biggest factor to why we have to mend our teeth, and sugar was not prevalent in those days.

Geralt could of course still get brown teeth even if they are healthy in another sense. So, if it were possible to keep your teeth not-so-brown then this mod might not be such a bad idea, as long as it is put in the right context of course, ie not compared to the look of modern teeth.

it is quite funny though, reading this thread.

I think dairy would have been a bigger problem than sugar. Talk about bacteria magnets.

According to my research dairy products are actually good for your teeth and gums. This is what I found: http://fyiliving.com/research/the-effect-of-dairy-products-on-oral-hygiene/

I wonder how the potions affect Geralts teeth? Were they not alcohol based in the Witcher 1?

I was thinking less the nutritional aspects, and more, residual dairy left in the mouth being bacteria magnets.
