catpower1980: OK, stream finished, here is the saved video. I didn't memorize the controls and I was switching between gamepad (for cars) and keyboard (on foot), coupled with my subpar reflexes, it's cringing to watch :o)

Default walk speed is troublesome in combat so I have to use the "aim" stance or use the "slow walk" button. In free roaming, default walk is fine.

EDIT: oh yeah also : after many hours on all the GTA, SR3&4 and other sandboxes games, it's painful that the gamepads triggers aren't taken into account to properly accelerate so that's why the driving is jerky as I push the button like if I was using a keyboard.

SacredNym: Cross referencing with my PS3 copy, this definitely seems sped up. Not as much as I used to experience with the Steam version, but sped up nonetheless. What OS are you running?
Windows 8.1

Anyway, this version seems vastly improved upon the Steam so I guess the CDPR guys headed in the right direction. I'm sure that if we provide more feedback, they could tweak the game a little more so it would match original speed

jumbalia: I too came here just to find this out. Good to hear it is an improvement on the steam one! That thing is so borked that it is actually less powerful that run it better because they are closer to 360 specs. Absolute sham job of a port. If GOG actually have it running properly the developers should just give them all the money out of shame at releasing the game they did years ago.:P
Yeah um... CDP are the ones who ported this game to the PC back in the day ;)

I just wanna hear more feedback from everyone.

I wanna hear how it runs, any issues, FPS, etc.

I just need some good clarification on how improved it is when people say it's "improved".

PrinceOZx: Saints Row 2 runs with up to 30fps on my PC :(
i5-4670 3,4GHz

8GB Ram

/edit
Saints Row 3 runs with 80-100fps
Hm, yeah, it appears that Saints Row 2 only also runs at 30fps on my setup as well. I have a GTX 660 and an i5-4440 3.1GHz setup with 8GB of RAM. Oddly enough, the game seems to drop down to 20fps during larger scenes, like the first tutorial mission where the Player Character and the partner need to escape. Changing the video details didn't really help much in maintaining 30fps.

Skip to 23 minutes in and watch the timer in the top left. Those seconds are definitely ticking away too quickly, and I'd say that is causing the "Benny Hill" running, too.

EDIT: Compare it with this video I found on YouTube at 7 minutes in (it's the same mission). This was run on a console. The timer in the top left is much better and both the running and driving are slower.

So yes, GOG's release is definitely still affected by a speedup problem.

By that twitch video the game seems to still be speedup, it's not running how it was supposed to. For a moment I had my hopes up. =P
Noob question, how do you measure the framrate in the game?
Is there a key?
You can measure your FPS with Fraps or shadowplay (if you have a Nvidia card)

Ok so it's not bug free. So does the Gentlemen of the Row mod/fix work with this version?
Does SR2 run well with an Xbox 360 controller?

speaking from my experience with the steam version, yes

Edit: I bought the GOG version and yes the 360 controller is supported, however all on screen prompts are for the keyboard+mouse. There is a mod that fixes this IIRC.

I haven't acquired the GOG version but I have played the Steam and 360 versions of the game and if the GOG version is running at a consistent 30FPS with no framedrops, then it is already running more stable than the previous two versions. The original Steam release was stuttery but managed to run at a better framerate than the 360 version when on the right hardware. 360 version has a lot of framerate issues and is not too much different than the Steam version in terms of performance, just a bit more consistent on the framerate without serious stutters.

EDIT: If the 360 version's DLC can eventually make it fully to the PC, that would be amazing. The base game is great already and the DLC is not too bad, but still it would be cool to have the complete version on PC.

I just remembered RadeonPro, it shows ~35-50 driving on all high. This is actual enough to play the game, no issues.

30 FPS is fine for a game like this. More would of course be better but 30 will work just fine if it's consistent.
I'm so on the fence about this. I got a 360 so I could get that version. Gah I dunno.

Thanks for the info! Do you have a link to the mod that fixes the screen prompts?

There is, I definitely remember installing it...back when it first came out. Heck if I can find it again.
