UPDATE: Did a reinstall and it works fine. Disregard this. :) Thanks.

Hello,

I downloaded the game about 20-30 minutes ago and while the download was fine, I cannot get any further past that. The splash title shows up on my desktop and then it just freezes. Unsure how to resolve this, and I have a pretty high-end computer as well. Will try to attach a photo for reference.

Thank you.

Using GOG downloader I got a checksum error at the end of download. Trying again now.

P.s. looks like it was my bad luck - files versions on GOG were changed just as I was downloading. All works now.

Got a dual monitor setup. Due to the way the monitors are set up, Monitor #1 is on my left and #2 is my Main Screen. The game insists on running on #1, which is rather unpleasant for me. Workaround is to put game into Windowed, reduce resolution, pull window over to other monitor and set it back to native resolution, but still, rather annoying.

Any .cfg magic I can pull to force the game onto Monitor #2 or do I need to keep going with the workaround?

Edit: For those with the same problem, under Win10, Windows-Key+Shift+Right Arrow Key (or Left Arrow Key) moves the game window a screen to Right (or Left).

Hey I cant seem to start the game after i download it. When I try to run the game I just get a black screen I can hear the audio but thats it. I cant even ctrl+alt+del. Im playing on a tv not a monitor, one thing to add is if I turn my tv off and turn it back on I end up on my desktop screen. I understand this could be a display issue on my end but I really could use the help all my other games run fine....i5 gtx1060 6g

thanks
I've got an issue I've never seen before. I have a chroma keyboard, then I have my speakers attached to the keyboard. When I fire up the game, all the way through the intro video, the game creation process, etc, the lighting on my keyboard is rapidly cycling on/off, it looks like. Once in the game, it settles down, but as soon as I bring up the menu screen to save/load/quit/go to options, etc, it does it again.

Anyone got any ideas of possible cause/solution?
EDITED 2 days later:
After messaging with GOG support, it turned out that the VC++ install was indeed included in the offline installer. Furthermore I noticed that UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe checks for its presence and installs it if absent. For whatever still unknown reason, it didn't do that for me, despite re-running the offline setup. To make it work in the end I had to uninstall the UE4 prerequisites by running UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe again, found in the game's folder, and uninstall VC++ 2015 x64 as well. After doing this a reinstallation worked. I can confirm that the installation using any offline installer on a freshly installed Windows, set-up for testing, succeeded without errors. Maybe this is still helpful to anyone.

(This is almost the same message I posted in the release thread, because I'm that lazy.)

I've installed the game using the offline installer. When I tried to load the first level, I got an error popup saying FATAL ERROR and loading just stalled. Repairing the game using GOG Galaxy solved the problem.

I've verified that the offline installer doesn't install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x64) - 14.0.24215, which apparently, according to Epic Games, is required to install UE4 prerequisites successfully.
Alternatively you can install this by yourself:

1. Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x64) - 14.0.24215 and run it:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=53840

2. Run the UE4 prerequisites installer that can be found on your drive:
%GOG GAMES PATH%\Phantom Doctrine\Engine\Extras\Redist\en-us\UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe

I'll drop a message to GOG support, informing them about the currently missing redistributable package for the offline installer.

I can't access my save files. When I launch the game there is no "continue" option and the "load game" screen doesn't have any saves listed.

I managed to find all of them in "C:\Users\MyUsername\AppData\Local\PhantomDoctrine\Saved\0\SaveGames" but it looks like the game can't seem to find them on start-up. Any idea on how I can fix this?

Thank you.

I noticed the same problem when I wasn't online. My internet connection went down today and I thought to myself "well at least I can play Phantom Doctrine". Then it turns out in order to access my save games I have to be online (as I discovered later when I got my internet connection back). I'm very dissapointed in this, I choose to buy my games at GOG precisely because I don't like modern trends of leasing games, games as a service, drm and always online features. PD is a single-player focused game and should provide players with basic features such as offline save games.

Exactly. Its very misleading to buy a game on GOG but have saves apparently not store locally. I hope they change this or its gonna go down as another No Mans Sky. I had high hopes for this game and it has potential, they shouldnt waste it.

Looks like you used Galaxy-compatible version of the game. I downloaded a GOG-loader version (which does not support Galaxy - everything is good, game sees the previous saves without problems.

Thats a work around but not the ultimate goal for games put on GOG.

I'm against ANY DRM or "Internet required" thingy, so GOG downloader is right thing for me. Galaxy is a choice, NOT "the ultimate goal for games put on GOG".

I downloaded the files from "download offline backup game installers". To me the word offline sounds like this should be files you can indeed use offline but it turns out that is not the case.

Did you use GOG downloader links? Those don't work for me and I don't know how to use them, do you need a 3rd party app?

Galaxy is just GOG in the form of an extra tool. It shouldnt change save file locations of games! And the ultimate goal for all games on GOG is that theyre DRM free, if thats not the case then you or game devs are doing something wrong.
