@ Zenger & Delgado
Zenger, many thanks for the Patch and Delgado, many thanks for workaround. I have the DVD and Outcast work fine (WIN 7 64 bit). Do I need any gamepatch?

Sir, you are a genious!
Thank you very much for the patch.
It´s a whole new experience of Outcast.
Works just great @ 16:10 with 1280x960.
This patch is great! Thank you for making something that finally allows me to play outcast in something other than 1/3rd my screen size!

There is a lingering problem, though. After applying the patch, whenever I wind up dying, the game CRASHES completely. From other comments strewn about the forum, I presume this crash will also occur when encountering certain portals. This wasn't a problem at all before patching.

I'm using Windows 7 Professional x64, and the crashing module is OC3.exe, if that means anything.

Does anyone have a workaround for this?

Hi, I'm _Zenger_, I can't log with my user right now

Do you have the cinemascope option marked?, the patch doesn't support that option.

I think that option isn't very useful now, It just cuts the screen for better perfomance, anyway, the patch doesn't support it, sorry about that, and I think that may be the problem. This patch shouldn't crash when you travel or die.

I'm Sorry, I forgot to write about the cinemascope option in the readme of the patch

The option is in perfomance if I remember correctly, it is called "cinemascope" and should be unchecked

Kind regards
I´ve discovered a new crash.
At Montazaar, after the dude lowers the Bridge, when i tried to walk over it the game kept crashing.
After deleting the patch i could pass over without problems.

The game loads with patch just normal past the bridge, i have an eye on it.

Thanks so much _Zenger_! Disabling CinemaScope made this problem go away lickity split. I really appreciate the quick assistance. And the great patch!

I'm glad it worked :D

Kind regards
I'm thoroughly Amazed that the guys at GOG haven't gone and autopatched this to the default installer (Giving you due credit of course.) It'd make a LOT more people buy the game. :P

For legal/business reasons they only sell the game as is but updated for compatibility -- there'd be the issue of selling someone else's free work (even if an arrangement was made I assume it'd need to be cleared with the publisher and any other rights owners), plus stability, additional testing, etc etc.

weired-why did gog then not hesitate to incorporate a patch the community did to enable walking in mud and riding twon-ha? Its a binary match. Check planet-adelpha.
I'm amazed by this patch! Works really well and the game looks ace at a decent res, running full screen.

That I am surprised by, then. Are you sure they did not ask permission?

And thus, what's wrong with asking Zenger for permission?

GoG is quite happy to add community patches when needed/appropriate.
Hi@All

The Patch is Amazing! Now I have a problem when the Game Starts all works fine FPS 40-50 . Then I play the Game and after 20min get low FPS from 40-50 to 15-20. Then i Use the Gamesave Restart Game all works fine and after 20min the same problem! I Checked the last Patch(OutcastTP_V3) and previous Version(KernelV2,DataV1) same problems. Have an idea for me?

System is a Ci5 750
GTX460
Xfi Extrem Music
Win7 4GB RAM
Driver up to Date

MMotzen

PS: sorry for bad English
_Zenger_:

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your patches and effort into making them, especially these hi-res ones! You have made this game so much more enjoyable!

I just installed your V3 patch, and it seems to work nicely too. One question though: The previous patch had all these different zip files to unpack, while the V3 was just one. I just unpacked V3 into the game directory, as instructed, and it works. The question: Do we need all the others for it to work, or does it work "stand alone"?

Anyway, great work, and again, THANK YOU!
