zenger2.2: You have a 16/10 monitor then?, and does it support 1280x768?, if it does, it is odd that the patch doesn't work
What do you mean with "clipped"?, that the image has black borders?. if I try to change the resolution in my 16/10 monitor to 1280x720 (16/9), my monitor try to adjust the image to that resolution and it puts a smaller image in the center of the monitor, so black borders also appear, but I can play at 1280x768 in full screen with no borders
Anyway, the patch I'm uploading now supports 1280x800, so You could try it to see how it looks

Just tried out the new patch, works as great as ever. The other widescreen resolution not working was a problem on my end -- now the only one I see is 1280x720. By "clipped" I meant that in order to adjust to the higher width/height ratio, the vertical field of view seems to be narrowed instad of (what I would've preferred) the horizontal one widened. So I keep playing at 1024x768 even though it means elliptical-looking moons :).
Hey just wanted to say great job on this and thanks for making it. I decided to go ahead and grab the game soley based on this being here. I owned the game when it came out, but I think it was just beyond me.... and my computer back then haha.
_Zenger_ could you please contact me at ulukai(at)centrum.sk

By the way, if you're running an ATI card, you can set the GPU to do the scaling and make it keep the aspect ratio. The setting is hidden deep inside the Catalyst Control Center:
In CCC, look in the Graphics top menu -> Desktops & Displays -> small screen at the bottom left, click the down arrow->configure -> Attributes tab -> check enable GPU scaling and click the Maintain aspect ratio radio button.
An NVIDIA card probably has a similar setting, but I don't know where that would be. You'll get black bars at the side of the screen though, but the moons will be circular. :)

That would be in Nvidia Control Panel under

Hi, thank You all for Your kind words.
I've made one last version of the patch, this is going to be the last patch I'm going to do about Outcast
I've left the executables with teoric support up to 1920x1200, but this patch only allows to play up to 1280x1024.
Well That's all, thank You all for testing the patches
Kind Regards

______I was able to fix the problem with these screens but the

Hello Zenger
Thank you for all your effort!
No matter what I can't install your great fix.
I don't have the GOG Version of this game.
I do have my original CD Version in german, but your patch wont apply due an error.
A missmatch with the loader.exe
I patched with the offical third patch, but it won't apply either.
I tried to use an englich version of the game but still no luck.
Could u include other ms5 / hash values for ur fix?
Or could you include your loader.exe of this game?
I don't have the DVD Version, maybe GOG used the DVD Version, I don't really know...
It wourld be great if you could look into that matter, b4 you quitting support for Outcast ^^
I can up my loader.exe / OC exe if you like!
And then there is a fanpatch for the mud issue...
Coz someone complained about the fps spikes ...

Confirmed, the patches are a 100 % operative in the version DVD-Rom.
The one that does not have happiness version, there are forms to find it... eBay, Google, etc.
Greetings from Spain!
I was very skeptic when I first started the game and saw it was only playable in a small box, but then I found your patch and it has been working great so far, not a single crash and decent fps at max res :)
So thanks for putting the time into making this possible!
I would also like to put a word in for the 1920x1200 resulotion if you ever do happen to continue working on this :)
Hi,
recently i recovered a thread about the Hi-Res Patch (thanks to CutterSlade23, at outcastii.net-Forum). I didn't get the patch worked with the Gog-Version of outcast, resolution never changed, and i didn't even had an game option menue to change resolution (arrows not clickable in that round loader, see attachment outcast), as mentioned in Zengers reading.txt. Running WinXP SP3 on a german system, NVidia GF8800GT.
But i finally found a way to change resolution:
when starting the loader, Outcast shows a certain type of cpu. Here it is Pentium III 550 + 64 MB.. So i opened the Pentium III 550 + 64 MB.ini in the gamefolder, and changed resolution there (i.e. 1280x960). Write protection to the file is not needed, you can also put cinemascope=true). Then i changed resolution with the APPLYMEGAPATCH.exe to the same value: voila, here we go ;), nice playing. The only fault i can see is by diving under water: you must go down really deep, to see the ground.
It would be interesting, if this method also works with the normal CD-Version, maybe i will try it some time.
Regards, and thanks to Zenger for this great job.

See attachment NVidia_Fullscreen (for german users). No frames with this option.
Btw: i have in use Zengers language- and music-patch too, no problems.

Zenger this patch rocks!!!
I was the guy who posted a long time ago, nitpicking about the depth of field in Zenger's original outcast 640*480 patch ;)
I haven't been on GOG for a while and now after trying out this new patch, I have to say WOW!
Zenger, thank you so much for this new, perfect patch! I cannot believe all the work you actually did, even though you said you were tired of fiddling with it :) Hail to you for sticking with it for so long. This is a huge accomplishment, you single-handedly catapulted this milestone of a game into the next generation!
