Was just about to make a post about this. Metallic skin here as well.
First time posting just to say I got the same issue. Still awesome game. Playing on Vista by the way.
I am also having this problem. I've tried adjusting resolution, turning off my second monitor, toggling video effects, etc. but nothing seems to make a difference.
Alright, I think we're barking up the wrong tree with the xp2_textures.bif issue. The size of that file, at least on my install, matches the size of Bioware's, at least according to this topic.

So something else is wrong.

Has anyone sent an email to gog.com support yet?

Reading that thread I found this http://nwn.bioware.com/support/known.html#1.52
Now everything is working fine for me. =D

Only problem is, most of us aren't using integrated graphics and don't have that option. :p
Catalyst A.I. at Advanced and 16x Anisotropic fixed all my problems.

Hnh, CCC being good for something is a weird feeling.
Same trouble here, both at home and at work. Both are Core 2 Duo systems, with one having the GeForce GTX 260/Windows 7 64-bit, and the other Radeon HD 3470/XP 32-bit.

Metallic skins abound the instant I try to change skin or hair colour (with the choice becoming black without the possibility to change it back - the colour buttons are simply not reacting), and taking the environment mapping off results in an untextured character.

Odd.

I tried this but unfortunately it did nothing for me ;(
The problem is that the colour selection panel is curiously offset. If you click a row or 2 ABOVE the area where the boxes end (as in the whole panel, not 1-2 rows above your chosen colour), you can actually get the right colour, its as if the graphic for the selection panel is pushing the ACTUAL selection panel upwards. I know I've had this in the past and I also know I didn't just play the game pretending that I was playing the silver surfer. Shall report back if I get something workable

Wow you're right....this is actually a temporary fix. By clicking wayyyy above the colors, I'm actually getting the correct skin tones hahaha. Very weird! Thanks for the tip!
