What a mess. Guess I learned my lesson about letting Galaxy update. Its almost as bad as windows updates. :/
I think I must start to download all my games to make lokal backups.
In the case the problems starts to pile up and I won't be able to access my games anymore ... .

Still hope for the best :-)
I wonder if it worked for someone out of the box. I have plenty "custom" changes to my installs (fixes) if this is going to brake that, I am gonna to have very bad evening, and someone at GOG support will have very bad morning.

SulturGoG: You can try deleting the storage directory. C://programdata/GOG.com/Galaxy/storage

If this or reinstall don't help please submit mantis report with logs included. (Same root dir as above one)
Fixed the issue for me as well.
They 're good for nothing. Just one more slip up, just one more and good riddance gog galaxy, hello Steam except for those really old games.

IMPORTANT ABOUT THIS
You don't need to delete the whole "storage" folder. Just delete all the files outside of the "Plugins" folder, that way you don't have to reconnect all your other accounts again.
Fixed the issue for me.

There was some other warning about search and sync but I hit enter to fast as I thought I wasn't in GOG. Someone know what we are supposed to do after restarting gog?

BARONBONGHITS: Same situation here. Pretty damn annoying bug, closing the hanging login window leaving invisible hanging processes is a nice touch :V

Definitive easy fast fix without reinstalling client or anything:
Delete the file C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage\galaxy-2.0.db

PLEASE NOTE this will require you to scan/import your locally installed games, Galaxy will take a while to load everything at next launch, blablabla. Basically your Galaxy gets partial amnesia from this, but it's fine and faster than reinstalling.

Some more interesting notes:

Digging in logs a little, does anyone else see anything about failing to load product configuration for product ID 1440151285 ?
If that sounds a bit meaningless for you, open up your last GalaxyClient.log file in C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs and ctrl-f something like "Critical exception during ClientCore task LoadProductsTask: Error Message"

If everyone is seeing the same productID, that would be pretty interesting and probably relevant information to get this humdinger fixed faster.

@ Whatever goglins are most likely reading this thread - 1440151285 is some internal ID I guess. Maybe try just installing whatever that game/DLC is for a repro? Error is consistently that ID for me and the ProductConfiguration for it is in fact missing
Saved me a fresh install so thank you very much for that.
Also wish that this forum was easier and faster to reach.
Even if gog doesnt fix everything at least community solutions should be easy and fast to reach.
I got some tears in my eyes when GOG Galaxy could not load my database after the update.

So, I went ahead and stopped all running processes of GOG Galaxy and then deleted the database here: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage\

Starting Galaxy up again, it looked like everything is working and I proceeded to install a game (as was my plan when I initially opened Galaxy - but then decided to update GOG Galaxy first) which failed halfway down the installation.

I then scanned my game folders and tried to start some of my games, which crashed. Then I tried repairing individual game installations, but that did not work.

So the only thing that worked for me was to uninstall Galaxy and reinstall GOG Galaxy 2.0 and scan my game folders again for my games.

I left it to do its thing and every game got queued under the Downloads folder - not sure exactly what it downloaded, but it was not too bad and many of the games worked perfectly fine with some asking to sync with Galaxy cloud or local PC.

Here and there I found a game that did not work - might be settings - Just saying that this was what worked best for me so far albeit not perfect.

You will need to run through the Galaxy settings again and set your game install folder and connect your other platforms aagain

People installing software with "BETA" in the name and then crying if it does not work perfectly ;D
Well .. clearing the "/storage" Dir ( contents not deleted, just moved away ) made it start again. But now the client forgot all the installed games and does not reimport them .. great.

Yep - for making a stupid mistake. Not reading - just pressing the update now button.

Not blaming the update.
