Sorry that didn't work for me. I was not given the option to install a hotfix. I have now uninstalled GOG Galaxy, rebooted my machine, installed GOG Galaxy and installed my favourite game (Pharaoh + Cleopatra).
The game will not run. I press Play, the button greys out for maybe 10 seconds, nothing happens, the Play button becomes active again.

What steps do I need to take to run my game?
Is there a different thread where I need to take my issue?

Hobbun: So we choose the "Download GOG Galaxy for Windows"? Won't that reinstall the whole program? I still have it installed, I just deleted the galaxy-2.0 file.

FiatLux: Sorry to learn that you messed up , but original advice (from others than me) never were to delete file but to rename folder storage and then copy files back later , since you deleted files I have no idea how you fix it unless you can get files back from Windows delete bin recycle whatever .

Original advice that you appear to refer to (in another thread) I have found is here :

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_failed_to_load_game_database/post113
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_failed_to_load_game_database/post119

For scanning it says :
launch Galaxy, from there just click the cog icon at the top left and select "Add games & friends" and after that just click "Scan folder for GOG games"

Nut I am not sure if it can help you when you deleted files , someone else will have to advice you on that one !

For the record then :
They have fixed the problem !
Just download the newest Galaxy client from the link on the bottom right at the front-page , then install that.
That should fix the problem. at least it did so for me. I had *NOT* started messing with the installation myself and had not attempted any of the fix suggested as I did not want to risk screwing up anything.

Thank you to everyone in forum for their fix for the problem or for trying to fix it , Thank you all !!!!

Also thank you to GOG for a speedy fix of their huge screw-up !

Ok, I was just confirming if the hotfix would have restored the games, even with the deleted file. Doesn't sound like it does.

That's ok. I really didn't have a lot of games installed, anyways. And really only currently playing one game at the moment.

Thanks.
Just a heads-up:

so I did the "delete galaxy-2.0.db" workaround, and then few hours later GoG prompted me to update with the hotfix. I did, but then one of the games tried to update, but said "update error: the game files are corrupted" and then it tried redownloading the update which lead again to the same error and so on, in a constant loop.

Fortunately I had the backup of my the .db file I deleted - I put it back in and now this fixed it.
Just dropping in to say I also fixed this by just uninstalling GOG Galaxy and then redownloading and installing it. The only thing I had to do was scan for installed games so they'd show up as installed in my library. No need to do a bunch of crazy tech stuff you can't pronounce...

I just did this method and it worked perfectly.

Stack Trace
I am having this problem with "Europa Universalis - Rome Gold". "has no depot and signature. Cannot move and verify." Then it proceeds to move from game library download folder to the Dependencies-Temp folder, and sits there. I have 676 titles, with this one being the only failed one. It had downloaded and verified a few weeks ago. Then GOG Galaxy updated, and it kept crashing on start, so I had to force an uninstall, wipe registry manually, clear all the disk files except game download folder, reinstall GOG Galaxy, rescan all titles, which took days and days, as I left it unattended, and there were always titles with dependencies needing a manual click.

While I avoided logging in before the new update and hotfix, I used this method to update just in case, and avoided the database bug entirely. Much thanks for the hotfix.
