BobBlusoe: This is until I saw the gore. It's just too much for me. (For the record, Half-life 2 is the maximum amount of gore I can take). So I'm wondering if there are other good qualitty games that have amazingly rendered natural areas which don't have as much gore as Skyrim does. Any help here would be great!
Half Life 2 has a huge amount of gore. :|
I was surprised how hard this question was to answer.
Satisfying those criteria aint that easy:
- stretching your new machines graphics
- natural areas
- lack of gore

Portal 2 looks lovely has pretty much zero violence but doesn't include any natural areas.

Driving games (not my area of expertise) might have the graphics again, and lack of violence but natural areas are going to be limited and fly past so fast your gonna miss them.

Oh,how about a flight sim? Haven't seen one of them popping up in a looong time.

Most RTS's are "urban".or at least not that bothered about environment graphics.

Hmm - how about the Spellforce series - I remember some really nice graphics moments on those and not a lot of gore,

I also don't remember too much gore in Neverwinter Nights.
Spellforce 2, NWN 2, FUEL, Magicka, Avencast...
This one is tricky. I hear Deus Ex: Human Revolution has a pacifist path, although it's pretty squicky in other ways.

The two Batman games are probably your best bet, even though there's some disturbing imagery with some of the tougher enemies.

I can't really think of any games with nice nature that fits the criteria, though. Sorry.

If you're not talking about only PC games, Okami is incredibly beautiful at times with little to no gore at all and Solatarobo is probably one of the best-looking DS games I've seen to date.

For PC games, well, I'm not entirely sure about the gore content, but The Void manages to be hauntingly beautiful, and as before mentioned, Serious Sam HD and Mirror's Edge.
Do you have a pc only? If you had a console as well (preferably a ps3/2) I could give you a wealth of options.

Yes, ps2 games are old when talking about textures, but the art and design in a LOT of the classics hold up immeasurably well.
Last days I've played Arkham asylum (it's about time and when I finish, I have more batman waiting), so I also recommend that. Great game. Not much trees though. =)
Crysis 1 or warhead are pretty and excellent games. Especially the first. I don't remember much gore in that even if I constantly try to shoot people in the head. And like someone said, too bad it's not as good after koreans.
Batman: Arkham Asylum/City
Dirt 3
Sonic Generations (won't push your PC but looks good and colorful)
How about Assassin's Creed? Revelations will release in 2 days (for me at least, for you it might have already released). You can avoid many fights and it looks really good. I'm not sure if there is an option to remove blood and while there is no dismemberment it might be too violent for you. So make sure you check out some youtube gameplay videos.

Trine looks good btw. And Trine 2 will release soon.

I found the close combat pretty brutal, while you don't see a lot of gore, you see an awful lot of stabbing and breaking bones (with, at least for me, a very satisfying *crank* that might be offputting for others).

My pick would be Fuel. Beautiful graphis and no violence at all. Pretty diverse considering it's a racing game, both in visuals and playstyle.
I don't remember Neverwinter Nights 2 having too much blood. If you grab some of the HD mods off of NWN Vault the game looks absolutely gorgeous (minus character models which are OK).

csmith: Serious Sam 3 - It's crazy shooting but you can turn on a mode where instead of blood & gore it's flowers and candy.
Seriously?! That's amazing :D

I guess it's flowers and carrots/pumpkins. The picture I linked to is not Serious Sam 3 but it shows you what the hippie mode looks like. :)

Thank you so much everyone! I'm checking out a lot of these games!

When I said Half-Life 2 was the most gore I could take, I didn't mean strictly blood, although I don't like blood either; I can take it if the game is worth it. What disturbs me is brutal violence. In half-life 2, while the blood is pretty realistic and graphic, you're mostly fighting against inhuman aliens and mechanical droid things, with some zombies thrown in. to my knowledge you can't kill "good" characters. I will say that those certain situations where the zombies get trapped and catch on fire did bother me a lot, though. So when I say gore, I mainly mean cruel gore to unarmed humans/animals/non-hostile aliens or torture segments, that kind of thing.

That bit in Crysis about choking people bothers me, but based on people's opinions on it I may still buy it and just not do that.

Basically, when it comes to graphics, my current computer is a dual core 3gb of ram 32 bit machine from 2008, which could never play any recent games of full settings. So I'd probably be impressed with what might be considered old from a couple years ago.

I own a PS3 and a Wii (currently going through Skyward Sword now!) but I'm looking specifically for a PC game since I'll have all of this hardware to try out.

I love flight simulators, and am excited to try out flight simulator X on this new machine.

And yes, I can do shooters, although it defiantly isn't my favorite genre. I've always loved adventure games first, specifically 1st person adventure games. (Speaking of natural areas, anyone remember how awesome the prehistoric jungle was in The Journeyman Project: Pegasus Prime?) Does anyone know if there are any adventure games being made with real time graphics (like realmyst) that look great? Most of the modern adventure games I've seen still use 90's hardware, which is great (I actually prefer pre-rendered ususally) but now its starting to get hard to tell the difference now adays!) I think I'll start another topic about people's recommended adventure games so I can get a ton of new great games to try out.

Thanks for all your help, everyone!
