anjohl: The point is, this is a war on consumers and their right to play a game when they want, and to buy it when the price is right.
I know so many people that are going back to the NES and SNES days, buying the games they couldn't have as kids now as adults. GOG exists solely because of PC gamers in the same boat. What will the people nostalgic for Mass Effect, Borderlands, etc do? How will they access the full game?
This games as a service mentality needs to be nipped in the bud RIGHT NOW. And the worst thing is, us GOG'ers are part of the problem...*Sigh*.
I agree with disliking it, I just think if no other option exists playing he core Mass Effect 2 experience is fine. It's not like the game itself is gone because the DLC is.
But yes, I agree with you. I would guess the corporate plan would be to sell it to you again, like with GOG. I would guess 10 years from now there will be complete Mass Effect collections on sale with a few new bells and whistles for a future console, like Devil May Cry or Silent Hill today. Maybe not though, since EA has never seemed that into re-releases.
Anyway the core issue is that corporations don't care about preserving their artistic output. EA honestly don't give two shits about Mass Effect 2 DLC being playable in 10 years. All they care about is making money, that is what they exist to do. That's a big shame throughout our entire industry.
