I've seen the future, brother: it's mass murder.

Syndicate Wars, a violent squad based real-time tactical game set in to the tone of grim cyberpunk future full of corporate wars and artificial body enhancements, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99

Only the strong will prevail, the weak have no place in the world. Maybe except for the slums. We need drones like you, after all. Understand this: money is everything, because it can buy power. The whole system works perfectly. The big gets bigger and consumes everything that's smaller in the process. This is the ultimate form of human civilization. A great return to the laws of nature. Eat or get eaten. Only predators prevail and prosper. Then, they set their own rules. What choice do we have, other than to become loyal soldiers to the corporation? What point is there to struggle? I understand that now. You? You soon will to.

You'll become a soldier in the Syndicate Wars. You'll do as I say, go when I tell you to go, pull the trigger on my command--and you'll enjoy every nanosecond of it. The only goal and pleasure of your existence will now be to obey. No, don't struggle. There's no point. The restraints are made from the hardest alloy our lab could produce. Don't worry--it's going to hurt only for a moment, and then the machine will just switch off the pain in your brain. It's such a pity you won't remember this moment and our little talk. After all, today is the most important day of your pitiful life. Welcome to the ranks of EuroCorp elite, recruit.

Forget pain. Forget worry. Forget responsibility. Open your mind to the calm and soothing voice of the Persuadertron. Become an agent fighting in the Syndicate Wars, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!
Wishlisted for now - will buy it on Saturday.

EDIT: on the other hand - why wait? Purchased, downloaded.

F4LL0UT: Populous and Populous 2 as well.
They had expansions? Didn't know about that, thanks.
Bought, downloading and getting ready to kick some unguided and zealot ass. And bombing some random buildings. My report will say that those civilians had it coming!

Yeah, Populous 1 apparently even had two, one of them may have been Amiga only, though. They added several new scenarios (like cowboys vs indians and IIRC even Amiga vs Atari). And Pop 2 had an expansion pack in an Asian setting.

Woot! Great game! Can't wait to collapse some buildings with the graviton gun again! :-)
Great release. Bought, installed, and played the first mission. Runs great.

I've been looking forward to this.
Huh, another EA release. Thats the third we've had recently. Looks like we got a series going on. Here's hoping for some Origin goodness before it's over.
now how about ubik?
Two questions to the GOG guys:
1. Why does the gamecard say single-player only while there's even configs and links for multiplayer?
2. You deactivated joystick support in the default config, right? (probably because you forgot or overlooked that SW actually supports that kind of input) The formatting is totally screwed up in the conf file which makes it hard to read or modify it but apparently joystick support is deactivated because mine is not being recognized by the game (although it works perfectly in other DosBoxed games). Anyway, you can activate up to four player offline coop by assigning input devices (including joysticks) to other agents in the interface menu so you should activate joystick support by default.

Edit: Sorry, my mistake. It seems to be set to auto but still the game doesn't recognize my stick. Odd.

Edit 2: Oh yeah, you don't even need a stick or pad. Apparently you can even set up keyboard controls or a secondary mouse for other agents.

My sentiments exactly. :)
Well, nice release but it would have better with more bonus. Also, we are still waiting for the American Revolt expansion.

Wishlisted for now as I really liked the first one (finished it earlier this year !) but only played a small time this one when I was younger.
Is this a TBS RPG or am I thinking of a totally different game?

I'm going to pick up something very retro today (feeling very retro today :P) and I'll add this to the four or five other titles I've got in mind. Shit, maybe I'll do a poll and let the forum decide. I LOVE a democracy!

I used to play it in late 90's on my old rig, it was great. I wonder how will it run on a modern system though, I had a copy downloaded from abandonware site few years back which could run on its own on XP but much too fast to be playable, and too slow through DOSBox especially on HI-Res mode.
The first one was great, but I didn't like this one. The gameplay didn't grab me as much. Will pass on this, good price though GOG.

Dude, it's basically the same kind of game like Syndicate. It's real-time action with pretty much direct controls (like in the original Syndicate or Cannon Fodder). You can upgrade and re-equip your people but it's still more of a tactical shmup than a strategy game or RPG.
