There's more than one side to every story.

FEZ, an original and incredibly deep perspective-twisting puzzle-platformer with countless imaginative stages to explore in a incredibly complex, awe-inspiring world, is available on GOG.com, for only $9.99.

Remember the time when everyone thought that the world was flat? Well, Gomez does. In fact, he thought so himself, just until recently--and I mean "flat" as in "two-dimensional". Then all of a sudden our hero was presented with an artifact that proved almost everything he thought he knew about his land wrong. Coincidentally strange reality glitches started to occur all around, and it seems that it's up to Gomez to fix whatever went wrong with the fabric of his universe.

FEZ is an indie puzzle-platformer which took years to make, and looking at the level of its complexity one still has to wonder how was creating such a huge, diverse, and rich gameworld even possible. There's a good chance that you won't even see the half of what the game has to offer on your first playthrough, and even after long hours spent with Gomez you'll still be discovering new elements of the giant multi-layered puzzle that he calls home. The challenge of this game lies not in agile platform-hopping, but in solving elaborate enigmas you encounter on every step. The games unique perspective-rotating mechanics allow for some incredible level design, but not all puzzles you encounter are perspective-based. In fact, the variety of puzzles in FEZ is astounding, and some of them call for taking notes why you play--something that games rarely achieve nowadays. This game, ladies and gentlemen, is one in a million experience. Be sure not to miss it, for whatever cause.

Find out why a fez is actually a thinking-cap and set out to explore one of the most amazing gameworlds ever created in FEZ, for only $9.99 on GOG.com!

One more thing before you go fiddle with the trixelated space-time continuum. Today's game release marks the submission deadline for our pre-order contest, in which you've had the chance to become a proud owner of an actual, physical fez hat. We'll announce the winners soon!

fortune_p_dawg: What'd he try to do to Team Meat?

LiquidOxygen80: Tried to get them kicked out of IGF, due to their deal with Microsoft, claiming they weren't really "indie." Then submitted his own game, despite Phil ALSO having a deal with Microsoft.
Except that didn't happen. Whoops!

From what I know, the most he did was that he said he hoped Team Meat wouldn't make it as a finalist because he figured they would sell a lot anyway on some podcast interview. Then, like everything else Fish related, it was taken way out of context by the rumour mill.

If you're going to hate the guy, at least hate the guy for something he actually did. Spreading rumours just looks petty and dumb.

EDIT: Later in that block of tweets, Tommy Refenes chimes in, for those who don't trust Fish at face value.

Seriously, though, don't tell me what to do.

I gave him my money... and I got a fucking awesome game in return! Yay! Go me! Whoo!

Roman5: It's an ok game but just so you know: The developer of this game is a Fucking Douche and Dick
Unless he uses the money to finance genocides, I don't care.

Don't know a thing about him, but assuming that you are right, the way I'm seeing it is that I would be financing the best part of him (the part that creates games).

Really, it's a good habit to compartmentalize people. Take the good parts and learn to mitigate and forgive them for the bad (or throw them in jail if it's really awful).

If worst comes to worst, tell him he's a dick, but buy his game if you like it.

TheEnigmaticT: Yeah, I don't agree with his marketing, but you have to admit that he's *good* at it.

LiquidOxygen80: No. No, he's not, TET.
After being on sale as a pre-order, and now available as a normal product for one day, his game has now outsold seventy other games in the catalog, including such notables as Magic Carpet 2 and Omikron.

Whether he is a jerk is subjective (I don't care about his Twitter posts, but that thing with Super Meatboy seems shady). Whether his game is any good is subjective. Whether he's good at getting people to buy his game? Oh yes, he's good at that.

Nice to have this game on GOG :)

Regardless of actions of its creator.
Been looking at the guy in a different light, now I kinda like him. He's a dick because the reactions he gets are golden. It's hard to believe he means half the shit he says when trying to get people going.

But none of that really matters to me still because I just want a good game, and Fez is that.
Here's the thing. A lot of devs for a lot of other games we all like are also dicks. They are just less visible. I don't see why Fish gets so much hate and with most other developers we just blame the team or the publisher. Yeah he has a huge ego - this is a trait he shares in common with many creative people whose works we have enjoyed throughout the history of time.

Rock stars for example. They basically made it seem cool to be rude and obnoxious.

I'm looking forward to playing this game, but the issues with the port and the bugs do seem to be a problem.

Again, that thing with Super Meat Boy is largely made up. One of those urban myths that keep floating around.

Except Team Meat member Ed McMillen did make mention of it in an interview. I can accept that it was blown out of proportion, nor do I care that he's a douche to his customers. That's between them and him, but I'd take Ed's word at face value before I'd take Phil's. I'm not trying to be petty about it, just stating the story as I understood it, from the interview I'd read.
Lots of my favourite musician, entertainer at one point make plenty of stupid remarks and sometime they're really rude to the fans. In fact, entertainment industry is full with hotheaded egomaniac. However it's not a problem as long as the product is good, value for the money, it's about give and take. Unless they cross the such as publicly supporting genocide, fascist, etc. i don't see why video game should be treated differently.

So you'll accept what you remember of Ed's word from an interview (link by any chance?), but not Tommy's? Ok then.
so, about the actual game:

+ its graphics are very cute, various areas look different and pretty
+ the controls are precise, no problem there (see minuses)
+ music and sounds are ok
+ it's really fun to play! (see minuses - yeah, it's weird but it's really fun to play...)

- nothing else to it but finding a way to jump somewhere, and then jumping there

amok: ...but there has been a lot of fuss from developers over MS's policy with patches.
Developers have complained about MS' and Sony's patch policy. Both consoles share this issue. Just a side note.

jorlin: GOG, could you please delete the reviews that focus solely on the developer's person? Game Reviews are meant to review a game after all, not a developer. Bugs are another story. Bugs need to be resolved and have a logical negative impact on a review.
I wonder why they would bother to do it when they don't even delete reported spam posts and reviews a year old. Until they do something about it, +/- is the best way how to help users to see helpful reviews.

yyahoo: GOG gets mentioned on CNET regarding Fez's release.

Fez lands on Windows
Awesome! :)

I don't have one so I don't know...
but I don't think a gamepad is such a great idea for precision jumping... or is it? did anyone play supermeatboy with a controller?
