Here's a game that will make you smile. It's plain to see that a lot of love and passion of its creators went into the process of making Driftmoon happen. This fantastic world was created with great attention to detail and no corners were cut when it came to producing the fable-like story. The creators' affection for their work is present in every dialog, every corner of the map and every little item in the game's world. Even though at times it's a little rough around the edges, this title presents everything that's good about indie role-playing development!

Driftmoon sports classic role-playing gameplay, complete with quests, battles, items, skills, and a party of adventurers. Wishlisted, but man, I don't have time to play another RPG. Maybe over Spring break I'll clear up my backlog a bit.

kalirion: Enjoyed the demo, so picking it up.

I wonder if the 15% to Red Cross part works for GOG version, since they have to pay something like 30% (i'm assuming) to GOG instead of taking almost the entire amount from the direct purchase on their website. And GOG version is cheaper anyway because it's in USD instead of EUR.

amok: Speaking of which - I encourage people to by it directly from the developer -

You get the same game, but cut out the middleman, and instead 15% goes to Red Cross. It is €11.99 there now.
I realize saying this probably makes me an ass, but for US customers at least, it is cheaper to buy it on GOG if you don't have any discount. The game is priced with the somewhat infamous $1 = €1. At the current conversion rate, that would be $15.64, plus whatever conversion fees you get charged. If you want part to goto the Red Cross still, you can donate the difference directly and it ends up being more. $3.65 compared to $2.35 at 15% of $15.64.
Wishlisted.
Still have too many GOG-games I bought and haven't played yet.

Bloodygoodgames: You can buy the entire soundtrack on their website for 5 bucks -- all proceeds go to the independent musician who composed 15 tracks for this game, and is probably living on not very much money at all.

The developers who created the game are a husband and wife team who, if you buy the game on their website, donate 15 percent of all their proceeds to the Red Cross.

But hey......that doesn't fit in with the current GOG mentality of so many -- "I want a game that lasts at least 40 hours, with a manual, an artbook, the entire soundtrack, bonus DLC and avatars, but I'll only pay 3 bucks for it".

The Me Me Me syndrome of so many on GOG is getting more and more disgusting as time goes on. Whining, complaining and angry because they can't get exactly the game THEY want with exactly the extras THEY want for a price that in most countries won't even buy a goddamn latte.

I need to just turn off my computer as I'm so damn sick of half the people I come across on the internet.

The whining about a fucking GAME drives me insane. Get some REAL problems and then we'll talk. Aaargggghhhh.

dirtyharry50: You are doing some serious whining, complaining, bitching and moaning for somebody who claims to detest such behavior.

Peace on earth begins with you. :D
Dirtyharry50, you have been accused of complaining about someone complaining about someone complaining. Do you plead guilty to your charge?

LOL - yes. but don't forget that if if you buy it directly from the devs. they get ~85% (100 - 15% to Red Cross - PayPal) while under your regime they get 100% - whatever_%_GoG_takes.

Your calculation is entirely accurate, IF you don't use the discount coupon from the Driftmoon demo on top of our launch price. With that included in the picture, the pricing will be almost identical at our own site and here at GOG (although I think the difference still is about 50 cents).

But this is not a very big issue to us - whatever you decide, that's fine by us! We obviously get a bit more (and are thus able to donate) from direct purchases, but GOG is a nice site as well. :)

But what we do care about is that you've enjoyed our game - hooray! All the hard work and love we've been pouring into the project for all these years hasn't been in vain! :)

The main point being - BUY THIS GAME! . It is well worth it, honestly.

Hey there, apologies for being a jerk and crapping up your thread.

This is the first time I've really noticed the game, which looks nice. I'll give the demo a go sometime over the next couple days to see how it is. I was actually wondering two things after posting that I was going to e-mail, so since I have your attention anyways...

How long are you all running the sale price through your website, and do you provide any keys with a direct purchase like for Desura?

Thank you.

No problem, I didn't think you were being a jerk. :)

The sale price will keep going on until the 5th of March. We certainly do provide Desura keys if our players ask for them - and we'd gladly do the same for GOG if it's possible to us (I have yet to find out about that). But in a nutshell: We do like to treat our players as well as possible. :)
I just saw that there is a demo for this for anyone on the fence like myself. Think I'll check it out tonight.

If this was previously mentioned in the thread, sorry.

Of course there's a demo! :) You see, games are like chocolate - some like that milky stuff, others like me prefer it dark. We want to give you all the chance to see whether Driftmoon's the kind of chocolate you yourself like.

I sure know I'd be a bit disappointed if I was expecting dark and got that greasy white stuff, without having a chance to try it out first! (Not that there's anything wrong with it necessarily, it's just not for me.)

Where can I buy Blotch merchandise? ;)
For some reason the graphics remind me of Sanity: Aiken's Artifact (really miss that).

Looks fun, can never get enough of well designed RPGs.
This looking interesting.
