Wishted! Thanks GOG.

/me waits for weekend promo
Interested in this more than Omikron. I never tried earliest generation of fps, except for Terminator Future Shock.
Only played the shareware version and was waiting the complete version.
And is great to see a important piece of gaming story in GOG, guess many modern gamers don't know this gem
One step closer to getting ID's games onto GOG's Catolog, yay.

I'm not very learned on the topic of game history but the sound of it something that makes Catacomb important in FPS history is that you are playing a guy shooting at things as opposed to a vehicle like in Spasm or Hovertank. But maybe I'm wrong there.

Anyhow I voted for this So I probably buy it sooner or later. I just won if the game has been updated to have mouse look.

Not bad for a minute. EDIT: with 30 seconds of nothingness.
Well, it'll sound more like this:

Something to do with MIDI vs. Roland vs. other sound emulation stuff I don't understand?

Or maybe that was a cover made by someone? :P

JMich: Venture into the depths of FPS gaming history!

Catacombs Pack, a collection of games that lay the foundations of the first-person shooter genre on the PC bundled with their 2D dungeon-running predecessor, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99.

In 1989 John Carmack designed and released a top-down action game featuring a mage blasting his way through an old, moldy dungeon. Who would have thought, that this simplistic title would evolve into a series that would take gamers into a whole new dimension. There are other games often credited with creating the very first bits of the FPS genre, but if you asked John Carmack, he would probably tell you that it all began in the Catacombs.

Catacombs Pack features five games. The Catacomb is a top-down dungeon-runner with simplistic yet exciting gameplay. Catacomb 3D: Descent takes that basic idea into the realm of 3D and into the first-person perspective. The trilogy that follows--Catacomb Abyss 3D, Catacomb Armageddon, and Catacomb Apocalypse--add a fantasy story of sorcery and blood on top of that, to create an experience that would capture the gamers' imagination and sprout into a whole new genre.

Before the call of duty doomed you to roam unreal places and exterminate predatory aliens with a big freakin' gun, there were Catacombs. Get the whole Catacombs Pack for only $5.99 on GOG.com!

Edit: apologies
Now that I realize what happened here. Well done. LOL

Pretty sure this is the case. The game uses the IMF music format (Adlib music) like Duke Nukem 2, Wolfenstein 3D, Blake Stone, etc.
wait i think i remember these....*thinks really hard* way back then...it was a while ago.....
JMich's coup d'etat! Nice one!:)
Why not 3.99 ?

keeveek: Why not 3.99 ?
Probably because this is the price in Flat Rock/Softdisk's own site.
As far as i know $3.99 and $6.99 price bracket are still under consideration, not yet official. Anyway, i'm willing to pay $6 for this game despite the bite size and simplistic graphic. Quality over quantity. Also, the pack included The Catacomb, Catacomb 3D: Descent, Catacomb Abyss 3D, Catacomb Armageddon, and Catacomb Apocalypse. Basically 5 games bundled in 1.
