Fesin: Pretty sure the problem is you.
Yep. I've been able to run every game I've installed here, and there have been quite a few.
great news! it's not like you can really know if the game will work unless you download and install it first. and of course we should get in touch with support before asking for this service. anyways, i know i have a few games i can't play. it's nice to know that this can be remedied in the future. that's some serious customer support.
You guys are the bizzest. Thank you for championing consumer rights and respect during a time in which such policies are considered taboo by the rest of the games industry.

pukka-pie: At least broken games are a rarity with Steam, I can accept it as an exception, but not a rule.
This policy is actually a huge slap in the face for Steam. Guess you never actually buy old games from Steam.
Some games' steam forum even pointing their users to GOG for a fix.(There is the pc game wiki now so it should be fine.)

Yeah, ideally it should be working right off the bat, but there are some games that require really old drivers(ie DX5/6, or glide) has more problem and is fixed by community mods. Really old games that use dos box or emu are all running fine for me at least.

This is actually a good policy, and hopefully steam will follow suit for some people who can't get their early access games working.

serpantino: I'm glad gog introduced this because, coincidentally, none of the games I have bought in the last 30 days are working!

Hope gog has some anti-abuse methods in place.

TheEnigmaticT: Coincidentally, we do.

Incidentally, in reference to the shirts that you see me and Firek wearing: they're actually going to show up in a video that we will be releasing next year, after which it *may* be I'll find a way to make them available for sale. :)
Hell yeah, those t-shirts look really rad :D

And nice policy, hope you won't have to lose too much time with scammers.
What kind of men did you say?
Nice. Hopefully, I will never have to make use of this new policy, but it's nice to know it's there if I do run into potential problems. :)

Bingo. I've yet to have a problem with any GOG purchase, and I have over 200 games from here. Desura and the occasional DotEmu title, oh yes, but GOG, not a one.

Pheace: Origin Refund policy is, download, play. Still not happy even if there aren't any problems? Get your money back. (within 24 hours of starting to play)

That said, Origin's refund policy only works for EA's games, and not for DLC.

keeveek: But isn't EA an evil corporation sacrificing infants in the name of Satan?
If your job is sacrificing infants to satan would the fact that you kiss your wife when you get back from work make you a good person?
Interesting timing, since I bought Deadly Premonition a day or two ago, and that piece of software has been nothing but frustrating for me. I can't get my controller to work properly, the keyboard controls are terribly awkward, and the game itself runs like crap. :<

I'd be tempted to make use of this new guarantee, since DP is a fairly expensive game, but then again at least the money ( or part of it ) went to GOG, so I don't feel like it's wasted. And maybe there will be further patches somewhere down the road, to improve performance of the game. In the meantime I ordered myself a copy of the PS3 version instead, so here's hoping that one will run without problems.

That said, what is up with the PC version? At the chance that it's just my system, I downloaded Alan Wake: American Nightmare yesterday, as a base of comparison, and guess what? Runs smoothly, looks great, and controller input works "right out the box". Perfectly smooth game experience, basically. I also played The Witcher 2 on this system -- again, no major issues. So is Deadly Premonition just very badly optimized? What gives?
Thanks gog, you really care about your customers; you still remain my no. 1 choice for PC game buying.
That's a fair move in costumer's favor.

Thank you.

Naev.

pukka-pie: At least broken games are a rarity with Steam,
I'm going to take a personal moment of silence to appreciate this statement.

Moving on, it's a nice policy to have, but I'd feel bad asking for a refund when I could just go to an older (Vista/XP) computer and get the picky game running.
I just have to say this is above and beyond what could be called excellent customer service. It should be the new standard.Especially as far as the gaming industry goes these days, there are very few companies deserving of return business and you guys?Oh yeah, more than deserving of constant business.
Wow, I have so much appreciation and admiration for this company. I will continue to support you!
