HypersomniacLive: When the firs batch of the Star Wars Wave II games was released, many users reported facing an issue with the "sign in"/ "log in" buttons appearing where their account button should. To the best of my knowledge this was never solved, at least for non-Chrome users.
When the second batch of the Star Wars Wave II games was released, my problems got worse. For the past 24hrs now, I can't interact with anything in my account pages. More details can be found
here.
Yesterday, there was
another user you faces the same issues.
Today,
(also posts #5296 and #5296) [url=http://5296]more came forward with the same problems.
I have an open support ticket about this, and since I can't send any PMs, a fellow GOGger was kind enough to PM Firek on my behalf to bring this to his attention.
It looks like that the non-revamped secure pages fail to read the user credentials correctly, leading to the acount pages being unusable.
Changing the format of the front page to promote new releases should not break the functionality of the account pages and prevent users from downloading their purchased games, or use their account in its intended purpose.
I'd like to ask all those having such problems to post in this thread, and to submit a support ticket, including a link to this thread if possible.
Cheers
EDIT: Please try to include in your posts:
1. if all account pages are affected.
2. Browser and OS you're on (though it appears to make little difference, if at all)
I just experienced this very problem in Chrome (current version) about 10 minutes ago. I was logged in and seeing my own game shelf and it clearly showed my login name, but had "Sign up/ Log in" at the top instead of "Account". Clicking on a few pages made the problem go away but I've had tonnes of problems with the GOG login since the new login went live last year both in Firefox and Chrome, both with various extensions and addons and in cleanly created pristine browser accounts with no plugins.
In Firefox, I am completely unable to post in the forums, my post gets immediately eaten - but not by the anti-spam tool like happens on new accounts with low rep, I can switch over to Chrome and post right away no problem.
I'm frequently logged out for no apparent reason while actively using the site and just clicking on one link to another, forcing me to have to log in again and when I log in in Firefox it does not log me in on the homepage, instead I have to click on "Community", log in, then click on the link to go back to the homepage. I've reported issues before but since it hadn't been addressed I just assumed I was the only one experiencing it and it would never get addressed so I stopped mentioning it. When I have a problem with the site in Firefox I just switch to Chrome temporarily and when I have a problem in Chrome I switch to Firefox. I've gotten lucky in that each problem I encounter (daily by the way) magically only is a problem in one browser or the other and don't usually see problems that happen in both very often and when I do, they usually are fixed within a week or so (because presumably it is a more major bug that hits most people rather than just those using a specific browser).
I suspect some of the login related problems are due to mixing SSL and non-SSL pages which is kind of sad because there really isn't any good reason in 2015 to avoid using SSL for everything.
What's sad is that sometimes these bugs prevent me from being able to log in and buy games on promo, so after several attempts I just give up and end up not buying anything and hoping to see the same game(s) come on sale during the next seasonal promo etc. Eventually they get my money but I'd give more if the site worked more reliably for me.
As an additional datapoint that may or may not matter, I don't have any login problems on any other websites (social networks, game distributors, online shopping, banking, just about anything) with Firefox nor Chrome. It's annoying though... If it was any other website I might just stop visiting but since it's GOG I simply can't stop visiting because I'm addicted and need them to pump DRM free games directly into my mainline. Perhaps when the Oculus Rift comes out they can use it as a retina scanner for login or something. :)
Update:
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/who_else_is_having_serious_problems_interacting_with_their_acocunt_pages/post137 is basically much of what I experience also.
