tinyE: What's so silly? I still have a cassette player and 30 or 40 tapes. I use to have a few hundred so I have adopted to modern tech a little bit. :P

SpooferJahk: Well to other millennials like myself, it gets odd looks when I suggest I am getting one. Anyone else that either used the format before or are into retro tech like myself, it's normal. That's why I prefaced it with the silly header. :P
I'm not sure about cassettes but my brother is an extreme audiophile who only listens to vinyl, and they make some really expensive cutting edge turn tables out there. Last year he spent a couple grand on one of these things and he insist it sounds way better than any other medium out there.

Even with a good metal wound type IV tape, it will never sound NEAR as good as vinyl and only sound close to CD quality.

He is right to an extent, vinyl thanks to its high dynamic range thanks to the format, can have music that sounds a bit dirty, but clean to the point where it has a very warm sound. Modern turntables have a lot of inner parts that can rival older ones and modern vinyls are pressed in such a way that they are VERY good quality wise.

vicklemos: First time posting in this thread.
Believe it or not but I found (after 70% uphill walking around 6km on a cold and windy day) a 3D card lying in the sidewalk. It was standing there, dusty, no damage apparent. Found it on a residential area in here, suburban homes. It was just standing there, waiting for me.

Got home, plugged it in, and it's a Radeon 4670. I'm using it to play some Parkan/Undertale/Parkan II right now.

That was one of the luckiest days of my life, no joke. Bad thing that everyone thinks I'm kiddin', but I'm not!

C y'all! ;)

Emob78: Considering you're profile says REPUBLIC OF CONGO, I absolutely do NOT believe a word of that post. =)
Erm... I... heck I gave a good laugh on this one ;D
I was actually born in Zaire/DRC (GOG used to have this country in the country selection screen but now there's just the Republic of Congo, whatever, but they're different countries) and came to the lovely sub continent of South America (and other places) as a kid. Never got even remotely close to that war thriven place, no identity at all, I'm 100% south american + also a citizen of the world. No joke, I'm one of these kinda folks.

Still, unlike Keanu Reaves, Bruce Willis, Chris deBurgh and many others, I do care a little about my place of birth. I guess ;P
But yeah, it's the internet, so you can't go believing everything you read, eh? MWA HA HA!

There's more to it there, I think... I hope... ;(

dtgreene: After reading this part of your post, I was actually thinking that you found some sort of holographic card, not something that you would put in a computer.
Hahaha some sort of... 3D holographic paper card, right?
Yep, that's WAY MORE feasible...

Still, I'm a father of (almost) 3yr old twin kids, have my lovely wife (nope, she's not reading this! :P) so there's no reason for me to get into liar liar mode in a community forum. Not for me.

I'm just a regular Joe with a regular job. I'm your average white suburbanite slob. I like football and porno (nah, it's highly addictive) and books about war. I've got an average house with a nice hardwood floor. My wife and my job, my kids and my car, my feet on my table and a Cuban cigar...

Apart from that last paragraph (got the reference? ;P) that's all true. The card's a little beat up but I'm using it and, surprisingly, it works quite well on oldies -such as Railroad Tycoon 2- that I couldn't get to run with my old GeForce card.

I'll attach a pic for posterity. Damn... just thinking about it makes it sound like a huge lie. Literally, it was just standing there. The moment was amazingly right, can't deny that.
But there are folks out there who end up finding suitcases filled with thousands of dollars, so I'm not that lucky, right? :P

Looks like it's been laying out in the Congo for a while with all that red dust.
The dinner I made in the slow cooker came out good.

I'm almost half-finished downloading the GOG version of DAO (that I Insta-bought).

It's a great game. The story is a little generic in places, but it works, and the game (imho) holds up well to this day. The origin stories are where this game shines, though. In particular, the dwarf noble story is awesome.
A week ago I fixed a drawer handle in my kid's room. Today he came and thanked me for it. Little things.

You do realize that the term "ladyboy" is offensive, right?\

How would you know? Are you a ladyboy? If not you might want to check your porn privilege.
Someone lost their wallet where I used to walk

I picked it up alongside my dad and went home to check if there were any phone numbers to call

After the first 40 minutes we come into contact with someone who knows him and passes our number so he calls us

As time passes I go and reorganize the wallet and he calls we give him our locations and how we could find his information and everything else

He passes through the machine, with his truck and a couple of friends (I wasn't surprised, is not safe at 11pm specially when someone calls you an tells you they have your ID, you wife's ID, a picture of your daughter and numbers of friends of work with codes to his credit and debit and net plans along with gold and black debit cards)

We give him back hiis stuff and says that he is thankful there are people who can still do that

Tries to even offer me a job

I decline as I have no management nor much work experience and I am only studying computer science

The guy tells me I can workout for free in one of his gyms (he is a contractor for one of the biggest corporations in the country so it wouldn't make sense if he didn't have a local store to manage his earnings)

I feel sad today, not for the gym, but for being pretty much an exception, I felt great when I did this yesterday but not many would care to help, in fact, his wallet was swapped when he was at the bank and since it only had one buck the guy probbably threw it out in the streets....I probably even saw him as a biker or car driver

At least I helped someone
