I have successfully sent several chat messages from my android tablet!!!

I can't select any recipient other than the most recent person I've conversed with, but I did actually send messages.

I'm also still bald.

Well, actually shaving it is a bother, and will have to be done very often if you want to keep that look. My wife uses a trimmer on my hair, set to 1mm. That's a lot easier than shaving, and it lasts longer.

Yeah, we've been doing that. Weird twist to the situation is it turns out I'm actually allergic to my own hair (well, it's actually a fungus that everyone has growing in the follicles). When my hair gets even a few mms long, the oils from it give me a ton of pimple-like sores all though the hair. So shaving, even though it would be higher maintenance, is probably the wiser course.

A few days ago I had two chat notifications on my account, but when I looked it only showed me one message, and after searching through all the people who have PM'd me over the years (and are now sorted randomly instead of by how recently we communicated) I could not find another message. The lack of email notifications is also annoying for me. I hope they just ditch it and go back to the old system.

Oh, and for reference my mane is long and luscious.

Probably the sender pressed enter in between, so it counted as two messages. Another screwed up mechanism. If I send you three paragraphs by pressing enter (instead of shift-enter) you will get 3 notifications.

On topic: back to 3mm every few weeks.

I tried to get to my new messages when I was out of town with my tablet and had to give up.
The completely broken scrolling aside, how exactly are the users arranged? Definitely not "most recent message" since the people I'm mostly writing with are somewhere in the middle.

I'm also annoyed by the new chat system... The previous PM system was perfect, why changing it?


Here are two advices:

1)  Avoid hitting the ENTER key... If you need to create a new line or a new paragraph, use the SHIFT+ENTER combination instead. ENTER will automatically send the message, and there's no way to correct the errors you've made before hitting the cursed key.

2)  Create your message in "Notepad" first, then copy and paste it in the chat's textbox... Again, avoid the ENTER key, and make sure you're always using SHIFT+ENTER in Notepad...


Come on GOG, only two lines for composing a message, and two hours for finding one?

Well, I've finally tried the Chat system on my laptop, so I've now seen how it is supposed to work. I still don't like it. At least on my laptop I can select who I want to chat with. On android I can only chat with the top person on the seemingly random list.

The ENTER thing is frustrating. If I wanted to use some crappy chat system like facebook, I'd be using facebook.

In old PM system was notification of unread messages by email. Is this also in new chat?

No :-(
And if you have a chat tab open somewhere in the background, you won't get any notification at all (since everything is counted as "read").

Well I don't know what to make of the new chat system, having had no new messages to read and no reason to send any messages. I thought we were going to get an actual chat room, or am I missing something.

Anyway, I blame the exact number of games that gog gives away for free to everyone. Take one away or add one. How long have they given away the current number of games? And I wouldn't be a bit surprised if all the current troubles began when they added the last free game, bringing it to that dumb number. :)

That's reportedly due to happen. Of course, they might add another at some stage...

Meanwhile, if I want to find that one, elusive message, I am going to need to go through the over 600 people I have PM'd since I started on the forum... it's kind of a trip down memory lane. There's at least a 100 from Secret Santa last December, tons of other GA recipients, just shooting the breeze...yeah - two years...might take me that long to find that one "new" message.
