I can say that when the insomnia sale stopped dead it was because the deals turned into the "Swing and a Miss" notification, complete with both games returning at full price. This was roughly an hour to an hour and a half before it was pulled from the front page. I was waiting for Rayman Origins yet, but i guess it just was not meant to be.

MechaKong: The concept of an ongoing time-sensitive sale is great, but I think instead of basing the sale on made up numbers of "supplies" they should just put every game on short timers and say "get 'em while you can". Each title will get 3 different times; 5 minutes in its first round, 2 minutes in its second round, and 30 seconds in its third round. This way, GOG can control the time of the sale and players don't have to suffer through 7 hours of a game not selling fast.

Leroux: Don't give them any ideas how to make the Insomnia sales even worse. O_o
Har har har! Putting short timers on the games would allow GOG to hold the sale over the course of a single weekend without having to end it abruptly, and having threads like this pop up wondering what happened.

It's not about the deals that people may have missed due to the abrupt ending of the promo, it's about the principle of the matter. When it's sated that it's going to last until each and every single copy of the titles partaking in it have been sold, the promo should end just then. If any titles were not supposed to have a third run, then it should have been communicated in advance. If there were any time-limits, then that should have been made known in a timely manner.

The second newsletter GOG sent out about the promo made no mention of any special conditions applying to the third round or the overall duration of the promo, just the usual hype; that's double fail in my book.

Isn't the principle of the matter the fact that the promo did end abruptly and people did miss out on deals, though? That's what we're all discussing in this thread, and why some of us are currently wondering what's going on.

I think that I would be more concerned of the potential false advertising angle, given that the sale didn't end as stated.

Honestly? It went on way too long, and I'm glad it's gone. And I was still waiting for the AVGN movie, which I planned to buy - don't care. A week is way too long, and ending it was the right way to go.

Yup, a single weekend is probably about the right length of time for a sale like this. When it begins to drag on it loses its umph.

Ah come on it's pretty Obvious what happened. It should have ended days ago at least that;s what they expected. They calculated that their newer games and movies would sell almost as good as the oldies. Since they cannot accept that this part of their business isn't much liked they miscalculated and had to end it earlier because it would mess up their illusive schedule... Just what I think though....

Sometimes it seems that as bigger gog grows as more they move away from the community and the "we are part of the community" reputation. :/.

I agree that the sale was way too long, but I don't understand why some games which hardly sold had incredible huge numbers in the third round while other titles, which were selling quite ok, were cut down to very low numbers.

I think we saw, that most people here prefer to buy the "good old games" and that it's very hard for moderate modern games (and many of the fresh games were just moderate or at least not well known) to sell huge numbers or to be part of an event like Insomnia. So next time they should realy decrease the numbers of moderate or not well known titles to 50 or 100 instead of slowing down the whole sale because there are 200-400 units.It still keeps Insomnia alive and give smaller or unkown titles the possibility for new players.
