P1na: This sale lasted a loooong time, way longer than others. Maybe it wasn't as succesful and got cut short?
I think they should look at tweaking a few things before they run it again, but on the whole it seems like it went off very well despite the ending. That said, a lot of good things don't have good endings.

Like "Sopranos" or most relationships. They can still be remembered fondly for the good times.
I drank a lot of coffee and a lot of coke (OK, Myers's rum and coke) so I was primed to see this through.

GOG, tell us why you pulled the plug. We don't care about the reason, we just want to know why. Some of your earnest supporters are really upset about this. Please tell us why.

I bought 5 games and got 4 critical hits so I am kind of happy; but, tell us why.

mistermumbles: One could possibly die of exhaustion at that length.
or develop a pulmonary embolism. People die from this more than one would think.
I only bought two games, I didn't see much I liked. I was trying over and over again to get free games. Oh, well, sleepy time. ( Dreams of new games Monkey Island remake and Star Wars X-Wing).
Its really kind of strange that they just pulled the promo when there were only 8 games/videos to go. The promo would have definitely finished today even if they did not have pulled the plug. I got all I wanted from the promo but am still interested in what broke the Insomnia promo go until the end rule.

It's dead, Jim!
Oh, officers, do you know what just happened a few minutes ago?
You ain't gonna believe this shit. Check this out:
The truck? It just stopped, man! It just stopped!
You got some jumper cables-- you give me a jump?

cecil: Also keep in mind on Monday is "staff pick" sale day so 3 sales at once might have been the reason. Not excusing it just saying a somewhat logical argument they might have felt they had.

opticq: Then just cut all of the copies to 50 each, simple. Or a max of 100 depending on whether it's a game or movie. Atleast give a chance to people who waited 2 entire days for just 1 item. Come on GOG.
Absolutely. Just chop the ones holding it all up and let the others run their course.
Poor customer service.

Or simply put up the remaining eight titles all at the same time. One last, massive Keaning and that's it.

Wondering: was there something that stated how many games in total would be on sale, and/or which ones? All I see is "more games than ever" and "two simultaneous pools."
In many ways this is one of the more annoying week long promos. I'd rather they either have everything listed, or like during the winter sale where there were 10-16 items on sale rotating out every half hour so the whole thing was 4 hours checking in.

And i think my chances for getting free games was exceptionally low... :(
Now I can come back without risking to ruin myself :)
What are you complaining about, exactly? The sale went on long past most people's expectations (I thought it would end with the Twitch stream...and if I remember correctly, so did many people in chat there), everything was repeated ad nauseam, and then they put it down. After it didn't end with the stream, the next logical point to end it would have been the end of the week. Which is exactly what happened, right?

You quoted the "until every single unit is gone", but what does that mean when you're dealing with digital goods? Are you saying they cut it off in the middle of a sale? As in, there was 50 copies of X left and they stopped it before those 50 were sold? If that's so, then sure, I can see why you'd be unhappy.

You see the last two insomnias every game appeared three times. So when this sale games also started to appear for a third time, everyone assumed that the sale would last until the third round of games is finished. Since it did not there was some confusion and a clarification would be nice, why not all games/movies appeared for the third round :-)

I think the main gripe is that the sale ended without any warning. It's a bit like if, while in a store for Black Friday, you were thrown out of the store by the security without a word.
