chevkoch: Your drawing (painting?) looks fantastic!

awalterj: Thank you, yes it's my own work - I often draw or paint animals. Living if possible, dead if necessary (but I don't kill them!)

Here's a closer look:
Thanks, that really looks gorgeous. You are doing this professionally? Sure looks like it.

Thank you, yes it's my profession. Not picking up dead rats, but I mean painting.
At least I've found this:

AdamR: I'm confused...

The OP says "Please no veggie bashing or food discussion here", while talking about the "animal holocaust."
So... No veggie bashing, but yes meat bashing?
When I see the words "animal holocaust" in the first post, that kinda overrides the "no food discussion" rule for me.
Or is it just a joke?
I added this later on because people seemed to be desperate for reasons why I made this thread.
I've changed the wording for you to something that's even less debatable.

Do you know of any vegan game-devs or does the topic not interest you and you are just here for offtopic stuff?

Cheers

I'd say the guys who made Organic Panic are probably all vegan.

thiagovscoelho: The iOS game "Hackycat", where you kick cats into the air repeatedly so you can collect cheeseburgers to earn points, has the "vegetarian" option that turns all in-game cheeseburgers into "tofuburgers" (the sprite doesn't change, only the name).
Not sure if that counts, seemed worth noting!
lol wait - you get a tofu burger but you still kick cats? I find that strangely amusing. I guess it still is vegetarian as long as you don't kick the cat to death and then eat it. :D
avatar
awalterj: I've observed and tried to stalk living rats on that street several times but they would run away and not let me draw them
Just buy a pet rat for yourself! You'll rescue it from being fed to larger animals, it's a great pet that you'll get extremely attached to as you draw it repeatedly, and then it'll die in two years!

Well yeah, you're not kicking the cats to eat them, that'd be weird.

I can't have pets, they would be alone when I'm not at home and that would be too sad for them plus even if I had several that could keep each other company someone would need to feed them. Also, when the pet dies I would be sad. Two years seems very short, I like rats (and mice, and hamsters, and guinea pigs, and everything really)

Well, to be fair, you were very clearly asking for it :) Trolls of all sorts were bound to be there right after your post about "animal holocaust".

Btw, being on-topic - i'm not an indie dev but if i would be one i'm pretty sure i would not make vegan/meat-loving/religious centric design choices because that would be very:
* unprofessional, because you personal beliefs shouldn't affect your work
* stupid, because you're be offending some part of your potential audience.

that's why you will probably never find any examples for that in game-industry. Also, if you really want to have serious discussion try to avoid blaming other party from start (yes, i'm about that holocaust again) unless you want to start arguing at the same point )

P.S. i haven't read previous 6 pages so probably i'm not the first one to post this ^^ )

I don't know... how do you tenderize cats?
(Someone's going to call PETA on me now.)
What is should and what is shouldn't anyway. I am in awe you brought this up here even all these bashing by non-vegans.

It's just a choice people, don't you see? And this is just a question no need to be so harsh to op. I thought this is a friendly community until I saw these looking down on original poster replies on a very simple question.

Extremely, and you get very attached to the little buggers as they're very socialible and intelligent. Also, they hate being alone. So ... Yeah :-P

I was under the impression that a lot of the "harshness" was caused by OP's implied Nazi comparison.

Actually, this came afterwards because I was miffed about the reactions when I tried to be more diplomatic.
I know I shouldn't have let myself get trolled to this level, but knowing what unspeakable horrors billions of animals have to endure from the first to the last breath, it's sometimes hard to contain the anger towards those making this possible anyway. People could at least try to understand this perspective and the concentration camp analogy really isn't far off and sometimes what is needed to understand.

I'm still searching for vegan game-devs, have posted the few results in the first post and will continue to do so.
