Stay away from The Culling of the cows then.....
No vegan stuff there.
Yep. Definitely not vegan.

the description is : high in protein low in moral fiber

eating too much fatty meats and fatty pies can make your character overweight but you can counter that by either running a lot or eating a lot of celery and peanuts
Fun they put that in :)

Klumpen0815:
In some games, you can easily get by without eating animals or without wearing animal products. In Darkstone for example, you can buy 8 types of food of which 4 are vegan: apples, mushrooms, cherries and grapes. (see attached screenshot)
I'm finding it rather funny to find fresh cherries lying around on the floor of the deepest dungeons but hey, whatever works. Pork chop is the most efficient food in-game as it gives the food meter the biggest boost, it takes up only one square in the inventory and feeds you for 99 points (the max) while an apple or cherries feed you a lot less and take up the same space.
But it's entirely possible to beat the game without eating any meat, fish, chicken or eggs. As for armor, well that would be a bit more difficult. Most RPGs rely on you wearing leather armor at a point, depending on the character class etc so if you're full vegan, that would be a tricky issue.

A fun story about in-game food:

I only played a MMORPG once for a couple days (some crappy free to play Korean browser game) and on one occasion, I teamed up with a guy from Indonesia to power-level in an area with high level monsters. We were getting seriously injured all the time and had to take many food brakes to heal up our characters. I offered him pork from my inventory but he refused, saying that since he was a Muslim he couldn't eat pork even if it's in a game so he used bread instead. That was quite interesting, in fact that was the most memorable moment I had of this game. Because it was something that never happens when you play a singleplayer RPG by yourself, usually you can stuff your characters with whatever you like and they never complain but a real human player reacts completely different, especially if they live on the other side of the planet and have a different religion/culture.

Klumpen0815: Please no veggie bashing or food discussion here
You preemptively banned me from this thread. I'm sad now. :(

Sounds interesting.
I'd really like to play as a cannibal one time, any suggestions?
Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines goes in the right direction although it's only "drinking". :)
Unfortunately, you can always only collect the meat of non-human virtual animals in the usual RPGs for hp boosts, stupid speciecism...meat is meat. :(

Still looking for vegan game devs to support though, but I guess there aren't many around.

Is this thread a joke? You don't need to be vegan to not have meat-based food in your game, and even if you're vegan you can still have meat-based food in your game. It's all just virtual. This thread sounds like those lunatics who go on about supposed sexism and gender-representation in games.

Also, what exactly does constitute vegan? Are starfish vegan? They don't have a central nervous system, just like plants. And just because we can't hear plants scream that doesn't mean they don't suffer. They still release substances which can be sensed by other plants in the vicinity.

On a tangent of this topic;

My eldest sister trained in agriculture (having had a long interest in it due to farming being something of a tradition on one side of the family).
I remember when she was at college in the 80s, the college had an "open day" lkinda thing, and I was amazed to find they had a huge computer room. I couldnt figure out why (with much of farming - even then - still being a pratical skill). Turned out they had several manegerial / smulation programs on BBC Microcomputers, and a few others on a system I cant remember. Whilst not exactly games (though I'm sure they could be played as such), I do remember one for the hortcultural crowd was entirely focused on a veganised economy (so no feed production for cattle etc even).

Point is, my grandad heard about it (an award winning farmer himself), and laughed saying something along the lines of;
"A veganised economy - what would happen to the poor bloody coos?" (thats Scots for cows in case you dont twig).

Makes me laugh to this day actually - and also (on the topic of veganism) something people do forget.

Anyways, I just thought it relevant to your search - maybe you can find the names of the programs as they're somewhat related. :)

END the PLANT slavery!
Plants VS Zombies! Goty edition! It has a HUGE variety of plants, fruit, and legumes! The enemies are zombies, who are hellbent on brain eating, and have targeted YOURS! You have to build natural defense made up by all manners of greens, and BY FORCE, turn ALL these zombies into vegans... So they will NEVER (again) taste brains. And cholesterol. There is a satisfying twist, though... Those plants come alive, resembling more some animals or human like creatures, rather than, well, plants... They have eyes, facial expressions, human like behavior even sometimes... And in truth, this might turn you from a vegan to an all eater or a carnivore instead, because you are in for some SERIOUS, EXCESSIVE, G O R E and A B U S E, against all manners of plant life.

Give it a try, it is one of the funniest games ever made (1, not 2, or other EA titles). Avoid the Origin version of it, is is crap and DRM. In it, you can even raise plants, fungi and aquatic flora, in a mini garden. This game rocks hard. And try to get the GOTY edition.

Klumpen0815: I would be interested in it, because this may have a heavy impact on game design choices and some users may like to support people that are not part of the animal holocaust at least as well as they like to support DRM-free and flat pricing with their wallet.
I dont see why vegan game devs would (or even should) be more vegan in game making that other devs.

I mean its not like game devs i whose game have violence are killers and murderers or sport game devs are actual sportsmen and so on. Artistic and game development vision doesnt need to be tied to the makers own personal beliefs. And i dont think they usually are, except on very broad terms.

...the so called "christian game" -brand devs are probably different. Or not. Cant say i am very interested in those games.
a bit worthless
> better try for a priest game developers, they will not allow you to kill another soul in games
no sins allowed

btw: carrots werent orange, or sweet they're mutants and clones
- i don't see that in games that are before that time period... we don't know or care? is it just business?

I think it would result in differences in the details, but it doesn't have to.
If there is a game where you can slaughter all kinds of stuff like in every other game but it's made by someone who doesn't support slavery, I'd rather give my money to him.
Since so many people on these boards mentioned, that they won't buy from certain misandric or misogynist people who got vocal in the Gamergate-affair and since there are so many different reasons not to support someone like statements against people with other skin colour or whatever, I'm always baffled that it's somehow different with people who are part of the concentration camp stuff and everything that is happening in it with highly emotional beings.
It must be like it was in a small part of the last century in Germany "Well, they are only Jews and not real people, so whatever?" at least they didn't raise them for eating afaik. Maybe you wouldn't have a problem with this either?
I'd like to support non-slavers, that's all.

Not many people have read what I wrote in first post.
I'm not searching for vegan games. Seems like as expected, most people are using this to vent against people who have more compassion than themselves as always instead of answering a simple question.

Thanks to everyone who stays on-topic, at least there are a few.
