Anime-BlackWolf: If "Dungeon Master II" is on the way, part I should be in the making, too (would be quite senseless if not).
Not necessarily. Each game is different. GOG also sells all the Legacy of Kain games except for the first one, and I believe there is more story continuity in those games than in Dungeon Master. According to Mobygames DM was self-published by FTL Games and DM2 was published by Interplay. That could be a factor. Although I do hope you're right and GOG managed to get both of them.

I trust GOG in those regards. Kain-series has quite a number of games, so I can see them publish every free title but the first one, where the rights are problematic.

"Dungeon Master" is not known for rights problems and there are 3 titles, if they only bring the last one, that would be quite bad for their reputation here. The beginning would be quite essential for this series...
damn it would be very sweet to have dungeon master here. instabuy for certain!

Why would it take so long to acquire the rights then? FTL Games is no more, so it could very well be that there are licensing issues, while Interplay (owning the rights to DM2) are still around.

And I don't see how it would damage GOG's reputation to only release DM2, if their hands are bound with regard to the first game. People would be disappointed, sure, but only one game is still better than none at all.

Essential in what way? Are the stories really that connected?

Don't get me wrong, I like DM, better than DM2. Just saying, don't get your hopes up yet.
Would love if the original was released but would have to be the atari st version as this was the original release of the game.

Sorry my atari fan boy image is showing.

Never played the squeal and would like to see how different it is to the first.

SCPM: GOG's German Twitter account tweeted a picture of what appears to be the German Dungeon Master 2 manual. Release coming soon?
Interesting. I remember reaching out to Doug Bell(iirc) and Wayne Holder around 2013 but he stopped responding after like one message. (I'm pretty sure Nightdive tried to cut a deal too.) If Interplay has full control over the second game I could understand GOG at least wanting that one if they can't get the first one.

I wonder how many reviews will be like, "Don't play this DOS version, play ... version". :P I imagine GOG'll make some profit though. DM2 has nearly 3k combined wishlist votes, not counting entries that ask for both 1 & 2.

Well, if DM comes to GoG it should either be the Atari St or the Amiga version. I played both then. :-)

Part 1 is more fondly remembered than part 2, so only part 2 would be kind of a downer from a collector's view.

Yeah, hope dies last. I'll take what I can get. If only part 2 arrives I would buy that, too. All parts would be real cool, at least the other parts can be optained via emulation or PC Windows Remake.
I've been waiting for Dungeon Master to get here for a couple years now. I hope GOG makes that wish come true!

I asked about Untitled Goose Game coming to GOG and Panic responded "Untitled Goose Game will definitely be coming to other platforms in 2020. Stay tuned!"

I know Square-Enix loves DRM, but with the upcoming release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, I think the probability of GOG releasing the original FF7 PC release here increases by a lot, just a hunch.

The idea is that most casual gamers and FF fans will be buying the newest and shinier version of FF7, so releasing the original FF7 on GOG will not adversely affect sales.
Yeah... nah.

Not a hope Squeenix add any of the FF series here

I didn't think Blizzard would allow any of their games here either, but look where we are now.

9 and 10 are already DRM-free (even if for 10 it will probably change soon) so if any appear here it will probably those two first
