Wurzelkraft: I'd like to add that they don't provide a patch at all. 16+ GB download for minor fixes.

MarkoH01: Yes, and they (neocopregames) did not even have fixed the many German localisation bugs absent in the normal version of the games of which I told them about (including screenshots) a long time ago. Already contacted them and I told them what I think about that. If they really should react like "oh, we totally forgot those - next patch incoming" I'd have to redownload those 16GB again. I pity those who don't have unlimited bandwith. But then again - the Galaxy update was only a dew hundres MB .... maybe it was intentional?
I have unlimited bandwidth, but it doesn't help as much as you think.

I backup my games to DVD+R and they don't make JVC Taiyo Yuden YUDEN000 T02 media any more. (I've stockpiled a little over 6 terabytes of it to give myself a few years to plan and save up enough to implement a post-removable-media solution for data hoarding).

The problem is, Galaxy sometimes also re-download the whole game, not just the patch.
I have seen several complaints in the GOG forum.

Doesn't this make the whole point of Galaxy moot?
(assuming "the point" isn't online-DRM)

You max be correct with "sometimes" - although I assume that this would be a bug that they are planning to fix. However here it is not the case since I tested it myself.

AI updates
- Deciding "ships to build" moved into the planning phase so that it can better keep track of its ship inventory

- AI less inclined to build war support vessels

- AI players that are at war with everyone won't bother to build freighters [hat tip: GalCiv Discord team: https://discord.gg/JN2XH6A)

ssokolow: I have unlimited bandwidth, but it doesn't help as much as you think.

I backup my games to DVD+R and they don't make JVC Taiyo Yuden YUDEN000 T02 media any more. (I've stockpiled a little over 6 terabytes of it to give myself a few years to plan and save up enough to implement a post-removable-media solution for data hoarding).

Actually, when blankmedia.ca ran out of those, I bought from the only Amazon.ca supplier within my price range (roughly $50 CA per 100 spindle or less) until I exhausted their supply. They appear to still have another variant of YUDEN000 T02 (printable white) at a slightly higher price, so I'll probably buy those at a lower rate until that runs out or I've filled the remaining three slots in the third of the three 6-spindle shipping boxes I'm keeping them in.

I'm not hugely worried though. My DSL has been stuck on the same 5MBit since we got it over 10 years ago (rural subdivision on a copper trunk), so exponential growth of usage can't happen, and my burned DVDs, (which contain migrated copies of everything I ever burned to CD-R or, through that, had on floppies) only total about 16TiB of stuff... so over 1/4of my DVD+Rs are blank and the other 3/4 took over 15 years to fill.

I estimate that I've got at least three years of breathing room here.

GOG's workflow is so bad and unprofessional.
I do not think they can handle two different sets of installers.

They can't and they won't. They're just putting off the inevitable for a little while longer.

Although you both are probably right could we please have some little bit of optimism in this regard? Even if it is not true I'd like to pretend for the time being.

Also amazing that GOG still did not manage to handle preorders and final versions the same so that a preordered game is never shown as owned in the store and Galaxy (omg - I said the bad word ;)) also points to a non existent store page. But that unfortunately is GOG too.
