@gogtrial, @pooka i ignored the SirP train because it was composed of newcomers to GOG mafia. Not that they aren't valid plaeyers with valid opinions; they are, but i dismissed out of hand the evidence based on the post that boiled down to "I'M WASTING YOUR TIME"+fluff.
also, noone else who saw it (myself included) thought anything of it other than to laugh, so i never considered it as a real possibility. this left Pooka, carradice, and zazak as potential wagons. (joe went nowhere and genny gets the D1 pass mentioned later.)
I figured zazak got a d1 pass, thus my blindness towards that wagon. It is not that i don't see merit in it but that I have refused to vote him out of principle.
This leaves Carradice & Pooka & as mentioned previously I leaned towards Carradice looking town, so I moved my vote from Joe.
(Recall that I had previously said that I read joe & pooka as scummier than the rest of the vets, but thought they were both prob town. This view was, iirc, influenced by gogtrial's read, or whoever it was who posted about the Carradice-zfr-pooka-zazak rombus. It struck me as interesting and accurate.
Aside: I was surprised when noone called me out on the coinflip to decide. Shame on you all?)
At the time, I toyed with the idea of making it a 3-way tie at 2 each, but went for Joe instead. Well, joe's wagon didn't take off and i figured, "why not give Pooka's train a try?" I still had the mental idea that Carradice & Zazak had two each, and my hopping Pooka made it 3-way.
If this was d2, I'd go for others, but I'd ruther not. I just don't see a good train of d1-eligable people. Maybe i need to drop my d1-immunity policy, or at least for those who have played in the past and are knowledgeable about the game.
++++++++++
The thing is, i see this the CvZ thing as two townies who got off on the wrong foot and who
could be invaluable later; each with analytic minds and knowledge of the game. C seems very different from last game, but the world situation has changed. I still don't see it as AI, the way Pooka seems to.**
Maybe it is wrong, but y'know what? never mind....
IRL stresses cannot excuse entirely bad play in hopes that play improves over the game. I think GR's ineffectiveness D1, while frustrating, is expected, understandable due to his playstyle, and even if that wasn't being excused, his IRL sorrow cannot help matters.
Other players have gone through extremely tough times IRL suddenly (some of which thankfully greatly improved!), and we always went easier on them, so long as they weren't blatantly awful at the game. When that player crosses the line into milking the IRL situation for slack in-game, then we stop cutting as much / more slack, but some is only polite.
Look, I think Carradice is town, but i'd hate to be blamed for a No-lunch, so even though it is a bad lunch (statistically he is 3 times as likely to be town as scum), i'll still like to put pressure and try to hear his claim. I'll be somewhat surprised if he is scum.
vote Carradice Please claim as you are now at L-1 and in danger of hammer if any of those offline not voting you are scum and you are not.
I'm glad for balance on gogtrial's part, but i've explained my personal aversion to d1-lunches of new players. perhaps zazak, who looks scummier than Carradice, shouldn't be extended this courtesy due to his previous experience? idk.
