Cavalary: Think it'd be better if the members abusing it would lose the ability to do so. Pretty sure it's a relatively small number and the staff could handle it if the option would be there in moderation tools.
Ok, in this particular scenario it's only one person, one, uno, that has more than 100 accounts (not that it matter, it only needs around 10 to downvote the 6 daily rep), how do you find those accounts and remove the ability to do so? And even if you did, what stops that person of creating another 100 accounts? I mean, it's free and quick to make a new account.

Should be ways to check whether someone has multiple accounts as part of a generic antispam system. Multiple accounts created in quick succession from the same IP, same action done from multiple accounts but same IP in quick succession, repeated logging on and off on different accounts in a short amount of time from the same IP, stuff like that. Sure, proxies would get around that, but it'd need to keep being different ones.
Or, speaking of spam, generally blocking an action from repeating too many times from one account. Up/down rep the same user's posts for X days in a row and it no longer counts for a while, so to continue it'd require new accounts all the time. Sure, for someone very... dedicated, it just adds nuisances, but there should be a limit of how many one'd take, right?

Cavalary: repeated logging on and off on different accounts in a short amount of time from the same IP
Don't know about the other things, but this one already exists. The limit, AFAIK, is three logins in about an hour. I know because it severely limits my ability to develop MaGog. If I run tests that require repeated logins, I know that I can only have three such tests before I need to break off for an hour. And I can't do these tests one hour before and one after the four regular daily update runs (every six hours) because each run already does 2-3 logins anyhow. I expect MaGog is the one affected most by this policy, possibly more than any scammer.

In that case, said scammer would need to be awfully... dedicated to keep at it in spite of this. (And MaGOG should get full permissions to do whatever it wants, but asking for that doesn't seem to get anyone anywhere for some reason :/)

My point was that if one person abuses a system, it's the person that should be removed from the position to do so, not the system that should be eliminated.

Cavalary: Snip
What do you call a person that loses a lot of their time downvoting people? We're talking about a person that has been here since March 2014 and has massively upvoted his accounts and downvoted others? (Let's just say that i lost.... uhm... perhaps 900 rep due to him).

I call that dedicated (also a retard with no life but that's a different story).

As for what your solution, no offense but i simply don't have the patience to discuss this since i would have to make a really long post (let's say almost a year of content) so let's just say it's not about 100 different solutions for this problem, it's about what gog won't do (or if they do it's a half baked solution).

Let's say that gog is actually a car dealership and they sold you a car.

You: Hi, i bought a car and the engine is making a weird noise, not to say that the breaks don't seem to be properly working and the i'm having problems with the stearing, can you do something about it?

Gog: Sure, we will gather our engineers, the car painter, the receptionist, the janitor plus some of the other staff and discuss this problem.

(2 months later)

Gog: Hi, sorry for taking so long but don't worry, we've come with the best solution, we previously had removed the radio but we installed it again so now you can listen to music and if you put it loud then you won't hear the engine noise.

Cyraxpt:
No argument there, and not what I was talking about.

Forums don't directly bring GOG money, and their willingness to put time and effort into anything falling in this category seems to have gone out the window some 2 years ago. Not that they worked on the forums before either.

Gydion: Developer class accounts. Only one I've noticed so far.
Well that's cool! Though, admittedly the color is indeed hard on the eyes.

Well, since months I hoped for this, but I hoped they would use green.

That it is. But ah well, way worse problems here, and it seems to be the one added color to the forums besides blue, as bold stuff in blue posts is also that orange, right?

IAmSinistar: [...] So it probably is post-contextual rather than account-based, though obviously account settings affect what gets posted how. The forums being a custom product makes me want to dissect it even more.
Funnily enough (or is it in GOG tradition?), posts by devs lose their text colour when quoted, unlike posts by GOG staffers.

That is interesting! Sounds like they are handled differently by the system in some fashion. GOG is consistent in their inconsistency. :)

Completely off topic, just wanted to say I like that number 2000 near your stars. Looks nice really. Very solid. Congratulations!

A constant we can always count on. ;-)

Ha, not sure if having posted that many times here is something worth of congrats, but thanks.
