HereForTheBeer: Got a referral from my chiropractor to see a back specialist this afternoon.

This thing has me all-but-useless right now. Took almost ten minutes to get out of bed, grab my glasses out of the bathroom, go down the stairs, and make the ten-foot walk to my office chair - the only place I get any relief. Crossing my fingers that they can identify the problem and figure out a timely course of action. If this drags on or - worse - is permanent, that won't be good at all.
That sucks....here's hoping for the best *crosses fingers...and toes*

On an on-topic rant-y note: My dad was sick for the past 4 days with cold-like symptoms(runny nose, temperature, etc.) plus stuff like feeling weak and losing his balance on occasion(well sometimes he loses his balance due to age/frailty, but this was worse.)...turns out he has pneumonia. :(

I hope he is going to be ok...last I heard he had a friend take him to the hospital and they admitted him for treatment.
Thanks for the good thoughts, and here's hoping it turns out all right for your dad.

Thanks...I heard older people have worse trouble with pneumonia so i'm hoping for the best.
Having trouble at work....most of the women there are quite splendid except this one who unfortunately happens to be my features editor. That one just pretty much annoys the living shit outta me - nw normally I don't take notice of her coz she looks like a friggin' hobbit and all plus I am over 6 so she's barely noticeable most of the time. However we sit on the opposite sides of the cubicle wall and there's no avoiding looking at her depressing visage at the start of the day .Now, usually I find her childish attempts to sabotage my work to be quite amusing..... However today she went a lil' too far and tried to mock kill me by strangling a pink teddy bear.

My girlfriend went out drinking last night and decided to call me at midnight her time, 8AM my time. It being Saturday morning I of course stayed up late and 8AM was a fucking horrible time to get woken up, with sun blasting through the windows and sweaty bed sheets, so I flipped-out on her.

Now I have to wait all day for her to wake up so I can apologize for probably being mean and she can apologize for drunk dialing me at 8-fucking-AM.

Relationships!
I'm bored .
Couple doctor appointments and I'm still not sure what's wrong with the back. They're diagnosing with small steps so it'll take a little while; fortunately, the first two appointments I got in within 24 hours. Hell, I called yesterday to tell them there was no improvement over the last week and they got me in less than two hours later for an MRI. Can't argue with that.

So the doctor says herniated disk with an ass-load of inflammation, and maybe something beyond that. NSAID injection last Tuesday helped for about 16 hours and I at least got one decent night of sleep out of it. The follow-up steroid pills didn't do squat. I've been icing so much that I'm getting tired of doing it, and nothing seems to help. Even the vicodin is pointless. Gotta wait until the 30th for an iodine injection, and then a steroid injection after that, presumably right into the messed-up disk.

I didn't get to talk with the doctor yet after the MRI so I'm not certain what they found. Hoping it's just a misalignment that can be dealt with between my inversion table and chiropractor. If it's a damaged disk, that might mean surgery.

I've been taking it easy as much as I can, which is aggravating since I feel so damn useless around here. Lots of time in front of the PC, and it's getting boring. Just want to get back on my feet but that pain comes raging back within 30 seconds of lifting myself out of the chair. Makes it tough to take a shower, get groceries, or anything else that requires me to stand up.

Kids, don't take your back for granted. If you've ever had a bad hangover then you know what I mean - you never think about it until it's at its worst, and then it's just damn horrible. Be man enough to get help lifting heavy stuff, and if anyone calls you a wimp, wuss, puss, or whatever, just tell them you'll point and laugh when they're laid up with a dicked up back.

Anybody knows an oil platform near the Antarctic that needs workers?

If you want to be cut off from the rest of the world the US midwest is pretty much that remote and minus the extreme cold (well, at least that extreme, some of it's still cold as hell).

Orcish is right, come live here in the Detroit area or something, nothing major happens.
Sick of Windows 8 already. Wish it would die a horrible death already.

/silly mode off

That bad huh? Windows ME level bad, or worse?
My sister had her 3th child this night. Just one more consumer on a world that's already more than full of people living like ever-growing yeast in a petri-dish that will inevitabely die someday from poisoning from their own waste-products. The child will have a future ahead without oil, without energy iinfrastructure, with insufficient food and water, with starvation, resource wars, polution and possibly over 6 degrees warmer than it was before our industrial shit began. I feel sorry for the poor infant.

Really hating life right now, I'm not able to feel 'happy' for my sister. That child has such a miserable life ahead, just like my 4 other nephews and nieces (my brother has 2 as well).
