I take advantage of gog's post to push a reflection on gog and racing games.

When you look at the racing games on Gog. You realize that there are very few.

Some people already know this, but gog has always had a hard time accepting racing games. I'm thinking of licensed games like "WRC" (it was even mentioned on the gog support page at one point). But also the game "rFactor 2" which gog didn't want (the studio confirmed gog's refusal at the time).

Personally, I think I know one of the reasons for gog difficulties. Game licenses:

The old licensed games became impossible to get for gog. Because the publishers don't have the rights anymore (the usage rights always expire at some point). But this does not explain why simple car games that do not use a license are not published on gog. Or that gog refuses them for some, when there is no apparent reason.

Another reason I guess. The multiplayer:

I don't think that galaxy was good at the time to manage this. So it must have been a problem to publish car games with multiplayer. But one of the possible solutions to my knowledge would have been to publish at least the single player part (with maybe a definitive reduction to compensate the absence of the multiplayer part of the game). But gog still had to convince the publisher or the studio.

Now. gog seems to want to improve things for the multiplayer. Just look at the announcement of the old "Wolfenstein" game and gog's position on multiplayer. Indirectly I think it will be beneficial for the genre. It will allow (maybe?) more car games.

To give an example that supports my point. I'm thinking about a car game in particular: Wreckfest

Thq has confirmed (voluntarily or not?) that it is planned on gog. Just see the patch note of the game where it mentions gog in the platforms mentioned.

This confirms my idea that gog's openness towards multiplayer must have helped bring the game.

Anyway. I don't know if I'm right or not. All this is just a simple statement. But I think gog needs to seriously catch up with the racing games.

If someone from gog read my comment. It would be nice one day to clarify the concerns you have for car games. Because it's really an underrated genre for you.

(Sorry for my English. I use DeepL)

Did you collapse over the enter key?
Btw: everybody knows it has (mostly) to do with licenses.

Not everyone does. Some people ask the question sometimes.
Sorry for the length of the post. I did my best to keep it short. But the gog forum has trouble with the layout.

I think there might be a problem with the system requirements for A Little Golf Journey -- or at least with the minimum requirements.

Bad games should not deprive us also of good games. =)
Otherwise, of course. There are some games where you are condemned to never see another one. Because of the bad choices of a publisher...

I was just thinking the other day about GOG and sports games. Wish there was more. Glad Legend Bowl is on GOG as that is a great football game. More please.

Would also like to see Loren Lemke's Super Blood Hockey on here one day. That would be a great fit.
Mutant Football League: Dynasty Edition is a great game at this price as the Devs still release updates and new DLCs for the teams.

I would like to see Ultimate Fishing Simulator 2. Devs released it a few months ago on Steam with early access, so why not have it on GOG as well?

There are some games, that could come to GOG, because they don't have licensed cars. Of course only, if the publishers want their game here...

Some games, I remember:

Split/Second: Velocity (2010)
Mad Trax (1998)
Hi-Octane (1994)
Quarantine series (1994/1995)
Zone Raiders (1995)
Highway Hunters (1994)
X-Pand Rally series
Motorhead (DICE, 1998)
Wreckfest
Rollcage series, if they can aquire the publisher rights
Burnout Paradise
FUEL
Horizon Chase Turbo
Sonic Racing series (depends on SEGA, if the series ever shows up here)
Extreme G-3
Big Red Racing (1995)
Redline Racer (1998)
Zombie Driver (HD) series
Gas Guzzlers Extreme
Cocoto Kart Racer*
Woody Woodpecker Racing*
Hydro Thunder everntually *

... and many, many other(s).

* everntually license problems
at one point, shared in the "*unofficially* confirmed" thread, a Flatout 3 entry was found by u/WinterSnowfall iirc, but not Ultimate Carnage, which blows my mind and I really hope GOG worked out a deal for UC to show up if F3 does.

Even FlatOut 4: Total Insanity is higher rated than F3 and I'm not sure an entry was found for that.

Flatout UC has 652 votes; F3 has 174 and F4 has 134.

trusteft: It would be nice to have more Racing games here on GOG. It's not like there aren't 100s of racing games released over the years. I understand that racing games with licensed cars are more difficult, but what about others?
Split/Second and Flatout Ultimate Carnage absolutely need a GOG release...

Some notice:

World Racing 2 - Champion Edition was released just 3 days ago in a competitor's store and this new game doesn't have licensed cars anymore. It is a modern 64-bit version.

And there are many different arcade and sim racing from different (also independent) developers/publishers.
I keep wondering why the Football/Championship manager series especially the older ones (pre 2011) cant be on GOG? Cant be just licensing issues right?.
