Did Morrowind ever have DRM on Steam?

Doom, Quake, Arena, Daggerfall, Redguard and Battlespire are DOSBox so they of course had no DRM to begin with, even on Steam.

So not much, if anything, has changed.

Call me when New Vegas or Skyrim is on GOG, then I might say they have no problem with DRM.

Two games out of how many? That's just pushing it really.

Holy shit, dad... I didn't know you were on GOG! (My dad told me the same thing when I tried to pinch his Led Zeppelin)

Did you read my post? Most of the games released are dosbox, so they have no DRM even on Steam. You can't "give up" on DRM for games that never had it in the first place. Unless they wanted to ADD DRM to dosbox games, which I don't know is even possible - not without violating dosbox's license terms.

Modern Bethsoft releases like Skyrim and NV are built upon Steam, as Fallout 4 will surely be as well.

It's like saying Electronic Arts or Ubisoft are fine with DRM-free because they dump their old games on GOG. No, because all their new releases have their own DRM on them.

The real truth is that none of these companies really give a shit about old games, so what if a few thousand grognards buy these games on GOG, they sell millions on their mainstream new releases.

Okay. They hate it.

If they loved it so much, then why are they building their own version of uPlay to launch with Fallout 4, and it'll have everything from Xbox 360 afterwards locked behind it? Notice that Oblivion, Dishonored, Fallout 3, and many others weren't released in this batch.

Now, if Fallout 3, New Vegas, Oblivion, and Skyrim showed up on GOG, THAT would be a different story. It isn't.

So you're argument that Bethesda doesn't hate DRM-free is one 14 year old game?

Exactly, this is a stupid thread, next one will probably be the OP complaining about getting downvoted again.

God damn I hate you. You're just going round in circles. I provided an example and you just make an argument of it. You really need to just be quiet on the subject until you get new material or atleast lighten the fuck up! *hits face off the wall*
Fallout 3 and Oblivion could come on GOG. One had GFWL, while the other had SecuROM plastered on the installer (retail versions). The Steam versions are a wee bit recent.

Also all the pre-Bethesda id Software games had various CD protections so they all can be brought on GOG.

Titles built around Steam: the recent Wolfenstein games (New Order and Old Blood), Dishonored, Fallout: New Vegas, Skyrim. Add to those the incoming Dishonored 2 and Fallout 4.
Bethesda are just cleaning out their closet of old games and getting money from us because we grew up playing them.

I would think a lot of Steamboys would turn their noses up at such "retro" graphics, and not even bother trying them. It's all next gen for them.

Bethesda still hate DRM-free, but as drealmer7 said, they love money more. It's a PR coup. They nod in the direction of people who prefer to buy their games instead of renting them (and who actually know the difference between the two), whilst fiddling around in the background to install even more DRM on their new releases.

"Watch the birdie! Don't mind what the other hand is doing behind my back!"

Its a stupid thread? YOU DON'T SAY! That was the point genuis! :P
Really? Did not seem like it was the point at all. It seemed to be about you wanting to tell us that Beth does not hate having no DRM. But you now say your point was to just make a stupid thread? So you wanted to troll?

Was it good for you?

Now I must leave, my people need me.
